"Programming isn't about what you know; it's about what you can figure out.” —Chris Pine
Every great coder became great the exact same way: the way of doing everything opposite of the standard advice. Enough with the "shiny object syndrome": the latest framework, the newest database, etc. Focus on mastering the fundamentals of programming first.
Compiling on the first try is the real a flex
What is the golden rule of creating great code? There are no rules. Coding is a creative process. To create great code you need to be in flow. Remove all distractions.
How do I start coding? Just start. At the beginning. Once you start coding, the rest will come naturally. If you are smart (you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't), you will adapt and figure things out.
"The most damaging phrase in the language is.. it's always been done this way” —Grace Hopper
Learn the programming language that has no name.
"I wish I had started coding 6 months ago..." Make sure you won't be saying this in 6 months.
The main issue I see with developers, They lack confidence Put yourself out there Somebody is going to appreciate your skills
Computers are fast; programmers keep it slow.
Remember that there is no code faster than no code.
Never underestimate how much coding you can learn in 6 months. Never underestimate how much coding you can forget in 6 weeks.
If you know how to code, you'll never be out of a job.
"In a room full of top software designers, if two agree on the same thing, that's a majority." —Bill Curtis
"Without C we would only have Obol, Pasal, BASI and ++."
Am I a good developer or am I'm mostly just better at googling stuff than everybody else?
You do not have imposter syndrome. You are normal.
You are not a programmer. You are a problem solver.
Some of the best developers I've met didn't want to apply for the job they had because "they didn't meet all the requirements..."
I don't know who needs to hear this, but... Go apply for that job now!
