Introducing Codeware Companion
Codeware Companion is being developed as a complementary tool to Codeware Studio, extending the development experience with a powerful suite of advanced utilities.
While Codeware Studio remains the primary environment for building applications, Companion is designed to enhance the workflow with intelligent code analysis, advanced debugging tools, API testing, APK inspection, project diagnostics, resource management, and much more.
The goal is to create a more connected development ecosystem where Studio and Companion serve distinct purposes while working toward the same objective: making Android development more powerful, efficient, and flexible.
Codeware Companion is coming in the coming weeks.
More details and feature announcements will be shared as development progresses.

Our Next Big Challenge: Android Studio Projects on Your Phone.
Imagine taking an Android Studio project, importing its ZIP file into Codeware Studio, and restoring the entire project directly on your phone — without needing a PC or heavyweight desktop software.
That’s exactly what we’re working toward.
We know this is a massive technical challenge, but it’s a goal we want to pursue in Codeware Studio 1.0.2 and the updates that follow. Our aim is to support complete, reliable project restoration, with extensive customization and powerful tools to make working with Android Studio projects on mobile a reality.
We’re pushing beyond the limits of traditional mobile development tools, one step at a time.
The goal is bigger than a visual app builder. It’s a complete development environment in your hands.

The new ".sksp" format is now the official standard for importing projects into Codeware Studio.
The legacy ".swb" format will remain supported, so you can continue working with your existing projects without compatibility issues. However, exporting projects from Codeware Studio will now be available exclusively in ".sksp" format.
Why ".sksp"?
- More advanced: Designed to support all the latest features and future improvements.
- More reliable: Includes file integrity verification to help detect modified or corrupted files.
- Built for the future: Part of our broader vision for a more powerful, stable, and flexible project system.
What about your existing ".swb" projects?
We've also added a conversion feature that lets you convert your old backups to the new ".sksp" format, making them ready to use in Codeware Studio. Alternatively, you can import your existing ".swb" projects directly without needing to convert them first.

Codeware Studio 1.0.2 Beta — A New Stage of Development
The upcoming Codeware Studio 1.0.2 Beta will focus on expanding the app’s development capabilities and laying the groundwork for the major, stable 1.0.3 official release.
Here’s what we’re planning to work on:
- Kotlin Development: Improved Kotlin support, easier file creation, code templates, and clearer error reporting.
- Android Studio Export: A more complete Gradle export system, with proper Kotlin configuration, dependency management, and improved project compatibility.
- Dependency Management: Better support for adding and managing external libraries directly within Codeware Studio.
- New Jetpack Components: More modern Android components, potentially including CameraX, DataStore, ViewModel, biometric authentication, and improved activity result handling.
- Build System Improvements: Better build feedback, improved error handling, and optimizations for a smoother development workflow.
- Future Compose Support: Preparing the foundation for Jetpack Compose development using Kotlin, with further testing and development required.
Version 1.0.2 will be a beta release, so these features will be developed and tested progressively. Not everything may be ready or fully stable in this version.
We have a lot of work ahead of us and a big challenge to take on.

Codeware Studio — The Road Ahead
After version 1.2.0, we will begin developing Codeware for Windows and Linux, with macOS planned for a later stage.
From versions 1.0.1 to 1.0.5, our main goal is to bring the core features and major capabilities to Codeware Studio, including Flutter, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, an integrated store, advanced Gradle features, and much more.
Starting with version 1.0.5, we will focus on refinement and optimization: improving code quality, fixing bugs, strengthening stability, enhancing navigation and saving, reducing memory consumption, and extending support to more low-end devices.
With version 2.0.0, we plan to temporarily pause development of the mobile version and shift our primary focus to the Windows and Linux versions.
Once the desktop version is fully developed, we will return to developing both platforms together, introducing shared features and improvements across mobile and desktop simultaneously.
Later, we also plan to expand our work to iOS and other platforms.
There is a lot of work ahead of us, but this is only the beginning.
