Hey ๐ buddies,
Here is ERMI from experience. The only thing I would give to my younger self, if I were older than I am at the current time, is: "Please focus on your social media usage."
Today, I saw the Netflix documentary "The Social Dilemma," which briefly tells you about the effects of social media directly from the developers. Yes, you read that correctlyโI said from the developers themselves.
From the developers who made Facebook Facebook. Those who created the like button, who were the suggestion experts for Facebook, and who held positions such as: Head of User Experience at Mozilla, investor in Facebook, engineer at Facebook, Director of Monetization at Facebook, President of Pinterest...
These guys told us how the algorithm works to make us stick to our technological devices day and night. They also explained how this phenomenon is leading us to inevitably bad destinations. And what about AI? I can't finishโjust watch the documentary.
They told us what they could share, from the basic intentions of social media to its current consequences, as well as its future threats.
Friends, please be cautious about your social media usage.

In God's will, I will write couple of articles in Amharic about social media, for teens. I will discuss why it was created, its purpose, how we are using it now, what the consequences will be if we continue to use it the way we do now, and how is the appropriate usage.....
Stay tuned!
Stay tuned!

This is a funny and poignant cartoon illustrating the "Buridan's Ass" paradox.
Explanation of the Cartoon:
โข The Setup: The top panel shows a donkey standing between two equidistant items: a pile of hay and a bucket of water. It looks distressed or indecisive.
โข The Thought Process:
โข The left lower panel depicts the donkey imagining itself drinking from the bucket, with "sip sip" sounds.
โข The right lower panel depicts the donkey imagining itself eating the hay, with "munch munch" sounds.
โข The Result: In the very center, we see a close-up of the donkey's face, expressing a deep frown or a sulk.
The Buridan's Ass Paradox:
This comic illustrates the philosophical paradox known as Buridan's Ass. The paradox suggests that a donkey (or any being) placed exactly midway between two equally appealing options might starve to death if it cannot arbitrarily choose one or the other.
The donkey's indecision here is a bit different in that each option is individually appealing, but it's frozen by the choice itself, which is what makes the cartoon so funny.
Why it's funny and relatable:
The cartoon makes us laugh because it captures the feeling of being paralyzed by choices, even when both options are good. It highlights the absurdity of overthinking a situation where there's no objective reason to prefer one option over the other. It's a simple and relatable representation of a complex philosophical concept.
