Who expects a "masterpiece" when opening an engineering book to solve applied math problems?

When I saw the quote on the cover page, it took me back to my primary school days.
I remember a time during the break between Grade 6 and 7. My Amharic teacher and his friends lent me some Amharic fiction books to read over the winter. One of his friends, whose name I sadly canβt recall, was a blind Amharic language teacher I deeply admired. We used to have meaningful discussions on different topics before and after class.
One of the books he lent me was βα¨α α αα α΅β by α¨α α° αα«α€α. It was far beyond what I expected at that age. I remember thinking, βCan poetry really be written like this?β The rhythm and storytelling were incredibly powerful. It felt like the words spoke directly to your soul.
That masterpiece inspired me to write my own poetic drama in Grade 9. I even followed a more βprofessionalβ workflow and shared it with my former teachers for evaluation.
If you enjoy poetry, history, and want something engaging without too much mental fatigue, I highly recommend that book.
And it made me happy seeing this quote on a cover page of engineering bookπ

Sinking Ship Syndrome:
When you're depressed, and you mention it to friends, sinking ship syndrome happens when they sort of start avoiding you, quit calling etc.

Cause even rats get off a sinking ship.
