The Ethiopian spirit of resistance to colonization
It is deeply rooted in a combination of historical pride, cultural identity, religious faith, and a fierce commitment to sovereignty. Here are some key elements that explain what lies in the hearts of Ethiopians that made them resist colonization so strongly:
1. Historical Legacy of Independence: Ethiopia has a long history of independence, dating back thousands of years. As one of the oldest nations in the world, Ethiopians take immense pride in their unbroken lineage of self-rule, symbolized by the Solomonic dynasty and the Ark of the Covenant tradition. This historical legacy instilled a sense of destiny and responsibility to protect their sovereignty.
2. Cultural Identity and Unity: Ethiopiaโs diverse cultures, languages, and traditions are bound together by a shared national identity. The concept of "Ethiopianness" transcends ethnic divisions, fostering a collective spirit of resistance against external threats. The Battle of Adwa, for example, saw people from various regions unite under Emperor Menelik II to defend their homeland.
3. Religious Faith: Christianity, particularly the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, has been a cornerstone of Ethiopian identity for centuries. The belief that Ethiopia is a "chosen nation," blessed by God and protected by divine will, fueled the resolve to resist colonization. The story of the Ark of the Covenant in Axum and the biblical references to Ethiopia reinforced this spiritual conviction.
4. Pride in Military Tradition: Ethiopians have a long tradition of warrior culture, exemplified by figures like Emperor Tewodros II, who resisted British incursions, and Emperor Menelik II, who led the victory at Adwa. This martial heritage instilled a sense of confidence and determination to fight for their land and freedom.
5. Awareness of Colonial Consequences: Ethiopians were acutely aware of the devastating effects of colonization on neighboring African nations. The exploitation, cultural erasure, and loss of autonomy suffered by others served as a stark warning, strengthening their resolve to avoid a similar fate.
6. Leadership and Vision: Strong leaders like Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taytu Betul embodied the Ethiopian spirit of resistance. Their vision of a united, independent Ethiopia inspired the people to fight not just for themselves, but for future generations.
In essence, the Ethiopian heart beats with a profound love for freedom, a deep connection to their heritage, and an unyielding belief in their right to self-determination. This collective spirit made colonization an unthinkable violation of their identity and destiny.

Moon Landing - Firefly Blue Ghost Makes History
Blue Ghost Mission 1 delivered 10 science and technology instruments to the lunar surface as part of NASAโs Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative. Upon launching on January 15, Blue Ghost spent approximately 45 days traveling to the Moon, allowing ample time to conduct health checks on each subsystem and begin payload science. Blue Ghost then successfully landed in Mare Crisium on March 2 and is now operating payloads for a complete lunar day (about 14 Earth days). On March 14, Firefly expects to capture high-definition imagery of a total eclipse when the Earth blocks the sun above the Moonโs horizon. Blue Ghost will then capture the lunar sunset on March 16, providing data on how lunar dust levitates due to solar influences and creates a lunar horizon glow first documented by Eugene Cernan on Apollo 17. Following sunset, Blue Ghost will operate several hours into the lunar night.

Imagine random Ethiopians stumbling across this podcastโyk the kind of โtechโ content we usually see. This is a solid step forward toward better, more valuable content in our country.
I even saw a similar channel the other day, but for fashion, and it got me thinkingโthereโs definitely a bright future for quality content in Ethiopia.

Absolutely!
that is my hopeโจ
I always think about my peers of their internet presence. Most of them pass their time through scrolling mindlessly. they even take a whole night watching some tiktok stuff that has absolute zero advantage. on top of that they lack focus and attention for longer time since their attention span has been compressed to at most 3 minutes video, they can't control automatic responses, have lower critical thinking ability, self esteem...and more others.
My always hope is to have a discussing, bright and positive internet environment as a country. But by chance those who are with negative energies filled the stage.
It is time to #wake_up
