For the purpose of the incentivized testnet, it is important to understand that this is a Three Pool Staking strategy for Ethereum. Below are the three staking participants.

Node Operators — Home stakers (or anyone) who wants to perform node operating duties receive 50% of their validator’s MEV and tips with only a 4 ETH bond. They also incur all validator penalties. Validators are compatible with all Ethereum client and node infrastructure.

Protected Stakers — Those who want a safe and steady return yielding up to 33% more than traditional validators on a per ETH basis. They do not need to worry about slashing and leakage risk.

Fees and MEV Stakers — Users who want MEV and tips, but do not want to set up and operate a node. These users receive their pro rata share of all Fees and MEV from all validators within the network (or a specific validator if it’s a private network). If slashing is severe enough they may incur penalties, although it is unlikely.
