On Earth, the May 2024 geomagnetic storm tripped high-voltage lines, impacted GPS devices, forced trans-Atlantic flights to change course, ignited auroras, altered Earth’s atmosphere and more.

Studying these events helps us understand and prepare for future geomagnetic storms.

One year ago today, the Sun unleashed a torrent of eruptions that caused the biggest geomagnetic storm in over two decades.

Auroras filled the skies as far south as Mexico! 🤩
