All large Companies should provide sports and social facilities for local communities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The question of whether huge corporations should create sporting and social amenities for local communities has sparked an ongoing debate. Much as it can place financial burden on companies’ budgets, I firmly concur with this notion, as it leads to increasing social cohesion and better public health.

One of the compelling reasons why I agree with this assertion is its influence on social unity. By providing social amenities for public, people can socialize and stay in touch with their societies and thus feel a sense of belonging. Hence, not only does it yield many benefits for the societies, but it also results in enhancing mental health among many people. Google provides a pertinent example: as a result of the creation of social facilities – public parks, gardens and cafes, to name but three – by the company, public become less prone to emotional disorders inclusive of loneliness, anxiety and depression.

Granted, there are also some disadvantages which merit brief acknowledgement. One such downside is potential fiscal difficulties for some companies. It is resource and time allocation that makes such reforms particularly challenging and unattainable for many corporations. However, the viewpoint neglects the broader implications of better public health, which is mainly contingent upon the creation of such sporting facilities including gyms and fitness clubs. Having better health, people can experience an increase in their productivity and efficiency rates, which, in turn, confer many upsides for companies. For instance, Microsoft has seen the output increase gradually in recent years, largely due to providing a number of sport facilities for their employees.

To conclude, although offering such facilities can exert excessive pressure on companies’ financial conditions, I would argue that it is much more beneficial, especially in terms of better social cohesion, public health and increasing workplace productivity.
