We sincerely apologize to everyone who is currently unable to experience true Lossless / Hi-Res audio and is instead receiving Opus-quality audio.

This happened because our backend crashed, which caused the lossless audio delivery system to stop working properly.

Our team is working on restoring everything, and true Lossless / Hi-Res audio will be available again soon.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Server was back and everything was restored in under an hour.

Quick update regarding Last.fm:

LastWave is currently hitting Last.fm’s 5-minute API rate limit, which is causing some Last.fm-based features to fail temporarily.

We’re repeatedly receiving:

We’ve already applied Last.fm for partner-level higher API limits.

For now, some Last.fm features may remain unstable.

If Last.fm doesn’t approve our request, or if the licensing cost ends up being beyond our budget, we’ll move recommendations to a YouTube-only system or another free alternative.

Guys, right now if FLAC / Lossless isn’t available for a particular song, LastWave directly falls back to ~160 kbps Opus.

Decision: We’re keeping the current fallback as it is.

Opus is already very efficient, and 320 kbps AAC wouldn’t make a noticeable quality difference for most users. Around 70% of the library is already available in FLAC / Lossless anyway, so adding another fallback layer doesn’t really make sense.

FLAC / Lossless → ~160 kbps Opus will remain the default.

As LastWave continues to grow, managing and maintaining accounts for different services is becoming increasingly difficult. Relying on community-shared tokens also isn't ideal, since revoked or expired tokens can negatively affect the user experience.

TIDAL and Qobuz are also not currently available for direct purchase in India, which makes obtaining legitimate access for development and testing even more difficult.

LastWave 4.2.0 — Important Update

Unfortunately, starting with v4.2.0, lossless streaming will no longer be included by default in the main APK.

To use lossless streaming, you’ll need to install an addon that we’ll provide through our official Telegram and Discord channels.

The addon:

* Takes only a few seconds to add
* Requires no account sign-in
* Has no usage limits
* Can be freely distributed to anyone who wants it

The reason for this change is simple: I’m barely 17, and I don’t want to put myself or the project in unnecessary legal trouble. I hope you guys can understand where I’m coming from.

The main LastWave app will continue to be developed normally, and we’ll keep improving everything around it.

Dolby Atmos support is also coming soon.

We’ll provide the addons and future updates through our Telegram and Discord communities. Feel free to join both and share the addon with anyone who needs it.

Playlist Downloads Are BACK.

I know some of you were crying like children when we removed playlist downloads. 😭

And honestly, nobody really cared about what was happening behind the scenes — how much load it puts on our backend, or how repeatedly pushing it could even get our premium accounts banned.

The impatient ones were always ready to push the limits and exploit whatever we gave them. But hey… we still cared.

Because at the end of the day, we care about your experience more than you probably realize. We even cared about the people who were exploiting the system. 💀

Guys, if you don't know how Bit Perfect works, please don't enable it and then spam “volume too high” or “volume slider doesn't work.” 😭

Bluetooth/wireless users and normal earphone users — please don't touch it. It's not meant for you.

Bit Perfect can bypass normal software volume control depending on the output path. Use your DAC/device volume control and know what you're enabling.

And if you find an actual issue, open a GitHub issue instead of spamming the chat.
