LastWave Desktop Beta is coming tonight.
Built with Kotlin Multiplatform, the first beta will be available on GitHub for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Anyone can download it, test it, report issues, and share feedback.
Contributions are also welcome. You can contribute through a Pull Request, or if you want to work more directly on the project, you can ask for contributor access to the repository.
This is an early beta, so expect bugs and rough edges. The goal is to improve it quickly with community testing and contributions.

LastWave Desktop release is being delayed.
Due to an unexpected issue, a large part of the codebase became corrupted. We managed to recover most of it, but the recovered result wasn’t stable or clean enough to release in the state we wanted.
Rather than pushing out a broken build, we’ve decided to rebuild the affected parts properly. Release will take a little longer, but the final result should be much better.

We’re building the desktop version of LastWave, and we’d really like to involve the community while shaping its UI and overall experience.
If there’s a particular style you think would suit LastWave Desktop, or a music app whose interface you genuinely like, feel free to share screenshots with us. We can use them as inspiration while creating our own design.
You can also send any feature requests, ideas, or improvements you’d like to see in the desktop version. We want to build something that feels polished and practical for actual users, so your feedback will genuinely help us decide the direction of the app.

Guys, should I make a LastWave Discord server?
Could be nice for chatting, bug reports, suggestions, beta testing and contributors.
Would you guys actually join/use it?

Just realised our lossless library is still a bit limited, especially when it comes to regional and indie music.
So I’ve been thinking… why stop at the current providers when we could add 2–3 more and make the library way bigger? 🤭
Nothing confirmed yet, but yeah… something is cooking.

Guys, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience.
We’re currently doing some server-side maintenance, so FLAC/Lossless playback may not be working properly right now.
This issue will be fixed with the LastWave v4.1.0 update, which we’re dropping shortly.
• v4.1.0 FLAC support will be available from today onwards.
• v4.0.0 FLAC support will be restored from tomorrow.
• v4.1.0 will have around 95% lossless library coverage.
• v4.0.0 will continue with around 70–75% lossless coverage.
Sorry again for the temporary issue, and thanks for your patience.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who is currently unable to experience true Lossless / Hi-Res audio and is instead receiving Opus-quality audio.
This happened because our backend crashed, which caused the lossless audio delivery system to stop working properly.
Our team is working on restoring everything, and true Lossless / Hi-Res audio will be available again soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Server was back and everything was restored in under an hour.
Thanks to everyone who understood the situation and stayed patient while we fixed the backend.
FLAC / Lossless playback should now be working normally again.
And yes, to the few people who started mourning LastWave after 30 minutes — we saw you 😭
Thanks for sticking with us.

Quick update regarding Last.fm:
LastWave is currently hitting Last.fm’s 5-minute API rate limit, which is causing some Last.fm-based features to fail temporarily.
We’re repeatedly receiving:
We’ve already applied Last.fm for partner-level higher API limits.
For now, some Last.fm features may remain unstable.
If Last.fm doesn’t approve our request, or if the licensing cost ends up being beyond our budget, we’ll move recommendations to a YouTube-only system or another free alternative.
Let’s see what they say.

Quick update regarding Last.fm:
The rate limit is not affecting LastWave continuously right now, but it can still kick in during peak usage when too many requests are being made in a short period.
Even if Last.fm gets rate-limited, the app itself will continue to work normally. The main thing affected will be Last.fm scrobbling and related Last.fm features.
We’re already working on LastWave 4.2.0, which will reduce the app’s dependency on Last.fm and make Last.fm completely optional.
The recommendation system will gradually move to a YouTube-based algorithm, so LastWave will no longer depend on Last.fm for the core experience.
More details with the 4.2.0 update soon.

Guys, right now if FLAC / Lossless isn’t available for a particular song, LastWave directly falls back to ~160 kbps Opus.
Do you want us to add a middle fallback between them?
FLAC / Lossless → 320 kbps AAC → ~160 kbps Opus
Should we add 320 kbps AAC as the bridge?
≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣≣
Decision: We’re keeping the current fallback as it is.
Opus is already very efficient, and 320 kbps AAC wouldn’t make a noticeable quality difference for most users. Around 70% of the library is already available in FLAC / Lossless anyway, so adding another fallback layer doesn’t really make sense.
FLAC / Lossless → ~160 kbps Opus will remain the default.

Big congratulations to everyone, we just crossed 2,000 subscribers.
What started as a small open-source community with barely 100 people has now grown into something much bigger than I expected.
I still remember asking a few tech channel owners with around 400 to 500 subscribers to promote Clashgram Web Client. Most refused, and some even gave me ethical lectures because it breaks ToS.
No hate to anyone though. The people who supported us when we were still tiny, huge respect to you. That support actually mattered.
And yeah, the irony is kind of funny. Almost all of those channels are still around 500 to 600 subscribers, while we are at 2K+ now.
Thanks to everyone who joined, shared our projects, tested builds, reported bugs, gave feedback, and supported Clash Projects and LastWave.
2K feels special. We keep building from here.
