Um. If this building is indeed under Russian control, Ukraine holds only a dozen remaining residential buildings in the city.
It is right in the center of what was thought to be “Ukrainian-held western Bakhmut” on all maps, I know.

Deep State just edited its map, but its even worse. Looks like Wagner broke through the center of the pocket and cut it in two. I marked the bombed building. https://twitter.com/JulianRoepcke/status/1658195064584019975/photo/1

A Patriot system was likely damaged but not destroyed by a Russian missile barrage Monday night, a US official tells @NatashaBertrand. US is still assessing the damage which to determine whether the system needs to be pulled back entirely or be repaired by the Ukrainians.

New @Maxar satellite 📸 of Bakhmut show it's been utterly destroyed. Looking at them, I can hardly recognize the cinema, palace of culture, groceries, shops, bars, cafes, market I frequented over years of living & working in the once-vibrant eastern city.

But I can still recognize locations, even if buildings are in ruins. And it's devastating. So many lives upended. And entire city of 70,000+ people completely erased from the map. 📸 show western district, including Victory theater where I once hosted a US movie night destroyed. https://twitter.com/ChristopherJM/status/1658890123495317523/photo/1

These @Maxar images show before & after on May 8, 2022, & May 15, 2023, of Bakhmut's palace of culture & central squares, the very heart of the city, where we all used to meet for food, drinks, conversation, strolls, & photos by the rose bushes. South square was once Lenin Square https://twitter.com/ChristopherJM/status/1658890128151003136/photo/1

These photos (1,2) from @Maxar show Bakhmut School No. 18, in the NW district of the city, and the surrounding apartments destroyed. And the college and university buildings (3,4) on Chaikovskoho Street, where I used to lecture in 2010-12, completely bombed out. https://twitter.com/ChristopherJM/status/1658891750356795392/photo/1

Based on geolocated footage, Russian invasion forces indeed captured the remaining Ukrainian strongholds in Western #Bakhmut and now control up to 100% of the city.
It took "Wagner" more than 8 months and up to 20.000 fatalities to capture the 42 square kilometers. https://twitter.com/JulianRoepcke/status/1660373973421416448/photo/1
