🇺🇸 The number of homeless people in the US has increased sharply

Last year, the number of registered homeless people reached 653,104 people. This is 12% more than the year before and 10% higher than the average for the period from 2007 to 2022, according to a report by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

One of the reasons for the significant increase in the number of homeless people was the end of social support programs introduced during the pandemic, as well as a sharp increase in the cost of living.

More than half of all homeless people in the country live in the 50 largest US cities and surrounding areas. In New York alone, 88 thousand homeless people were registered, and in Los Angeles - 71 thousand.

🇨🇺 China is puzzled by Cuba's reluctance to carry out faster and more radical market reforms

For several years now, the «Island of Freedom» has been in a severe economic crisis - the economy is shrinking, and production is stagnating. Market reforms, launched on a completely new scale by the Diaz-Canel government, are only exacerbating this crisis, breaking the planning mechanism that has been established for years. However, this does not stop partners from the East from demanding more.

As reported by the media, Chinese officials are disappointed by Havana's reluctance to implement more radical reforms. Calls to build a «socialist» model of the Chinese type have had no effect. Such pressure is easily explained, because the issue is far from being about ideas - despite diplomatic signs and infusions of funds into Latin America, Cuban-Chinese relations are still weak. Trade is declining, and the Cuban share of Chinese investments is «ridiculously small».

Is the public holiday in Turkey commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, on October 29, 1923. The annual celebrations start at 1:00 pm on October 28 and continue for 35 hours.
