☘️ Discuss both views

Q: Some people think that newspapers are the best way to get news. However, others believe that other media are better sources of news. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

💡 Answer:

It is true for many people that reading news in newspapers is the most effective way to learn about current local and international events as well as broaden their horizons, while others claim that getting news via media like TV, radio, or the internet is better. From my point of view, although reading news in newspapers is a great way to obtain information, I would argue that using other types of media is preferable.

On the one hand, reading news in newspapers has a range of benefits. First, information in the newspapers is usually close to reality and subject to better editorial control than news from other types of media. Moreover, newspapers provide analysis such that readers can have a deep understanding of the issues involved. In contrast, if people read news through the Internet, they might be misled by numerous fake news. Additionally, as newspaper reporters and writers are all professionally trained, they can cover news from an impartial perspective which gives the reader a more-balanced view.

On the other hand, other media like TV, the Internet and radio can be a great way to keep up with the news. The first reason is that nowadays many people have to work for long hours and their schedule can be quite hectic, so listening to the news on the radio while commuting to and from work is more convenient than reading newspapers. On top of that, as news on TV and radio is read out loud, people with visual disabilities can access the news without any troubles. Lastly, thanks to advances in technology, the latest news can be delivered to a person’s smartphone. Therefore, they can always keep up to date with the latest.

In conclusion, despite the fact that reading news in newspapers might have some advantages, I believe that using other media such as TV, radio and the internet is a better way to access news.
