☘️ Agree / Disagree

Q:Some people think that a person improves their intellectual skills
more when doing group activities. To what extent do you agree?

💡 Answer:

In recent decades, many researchers have studied the importance of group-level cognition. Indeed, to my mind, there is now convincing evidence that group activities improve the intelligence of individuals. In this essay, I shall examine how research in team-games and study-groups supports this view.

To begin with, team-games clearly require individuals to perform a diverse range of rapid mental calculations. This is because, in a sporting context, players must predict and anticipate possible actions within tight time constraints. For example, a recent Cambridge study showed that soccer players can – within the span of seconds – calculate over a dozen different permutations that could result from a single soccer related action. Such predictive powers clearly improve players’ mental abilities and result from activities performed in a group context.

Secondly, study-groups enable individuals to obtain information that they could not acquire in isolation. This is because peer feedback allows individuals to refine their understanding of concepts and to also learn new information from other members in the study-group. For example, a study by The British Institute for Learning found that, if individuals participated in study-groups, they had a far more objective and sophisticated understanding of a topic than learners who were not part of study-groups. Therefore, it is certainly the case that learning in a group improves an individual’s mental abilities.

In conclusion, I strongly agree with the notion that group activities improve intellectual abilities. In the future, we will certainly see schools take greater measures to ensure that more group-level cognition occurs in the classroom.

🔰Speaking Part 2 in Uzbekistan 14.09.2021

🔸Describe an occasion when you ate a kind of food for the first time
You should say:
– When you had it
– Where you ate it
– What it was
and explain how you felt about it

I am someone who likes to experiment with food that I eat. Although I love trying different cuisines but at the same time I try to keep it healthy.
A couple of weeks back during my home quarantine period i saw a TV commercial about the launch of a pizza that was somewhat like a burger, they named it “Bizza”. The commercial was very well presented and that I started craving for it. As I was not supposed to step out of my home due the pandemic, I opted for a home delivery. I ordered it with Coke and Fries, as they were giving a special discount on this combo pack. After ordering it, even waiting for half an hour seemed so difficult, moreover due to precautionary measures the delivery boy took even more time to deliver. But finally I got my order after a long wait of 45 minutes. As soon as I received it, I sanitized the outer packaging. The aroma that came from the parcel excited me even more. I opened the packet, it was a burger pizza by domino’s which had oven-baked buns with loads of cheese and pizza sauces. It felt so much fresh and unique to try out, I had never tasted anything similar to it. It brought mere joy to my face after savouring it. I felt amazing when I ate it and I’m glad that I ordered it. I was so much fascinated by the taste that I ordered it again the next day. Now it’s one of my favourite dish.

☘️ Discussion and Opinion

Q: Scientists and the news media are presenting ever more evidence of climate change. Governments cannot be expected to solve this problem. It is the responsibility of individuals to change their lifestyle to prevent further damage. What are your views?

📚 Answer:

Today, we are aware that the climate is changing, and that issue has ignited a public debate. Greenhouse gases are deemed the main factor causing this problem. In order to reduce and control the emission of such gases, I believe that governments and individuals must cooperate on many levels.

According to many research studies, a large proportion of the world's greenhouse gases come from industrial plants. Those gases fuel the greenhouse effect which destroys the ozone layer and harms people's health directly and indirectly. Therefore, the government must enact laws that limit the amount of gases emitted from various industries. Besides, technological improvement plays an important role in decreasing the levels of such pollutants in the atmosphere. As a result, the officials should encourage industries to use advanced technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, governments around the world can make agreements to ensure that each country has a limited greenhouse gas emissions quota. The Kyoto agreement, for instance, was an example of that.

Second, individuals also have a responsibility to help the environment by changing their lifestyle. As we know, not only industrial gases but also car exhaust fumes can contribute to global warming. Thus, instead of using their own private vehicles, people can opt to walk, use bicycles or public transport to reduce or eliminate such exhaust fumes. Additionally, using renewable energy can also reduce reliance on fossil fuels and the emissions of greenhouse gases.

In conclusion, governments and individuals need to do their part to address climate change. Only such a combined approach can succeed in preventing further damage to the environment.
