✅Q: Some people think that schools should reward students who have the best academic results, while others believe that it is more important to reward students who show progress. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

📚 Answer:

People have different views about how academic performance can be promoted. Some argue that schools should praise and encourage students who achieve excellent academic results, while others believe that it is more important to focus on encouraging students who have significant improvements, irrespective of their actual grades. I believe that it is more reasonable to praise students who show improvement in learning.

On the one hand, praise should be given to high achievers for various reasons. First, this creates a highly competitive studying environment in schools because most students appreciate being praised and rewarded. Therefore, they are encouraged to put their effort into studying to gain the highest mark. Second, this approach means gifted students have many more opportunities to nurture their abilities. For instance, in my secondary school, students who have the highest academic results are selected for studying in extra classes, which helps them to develop abilities to participate in the national competitions.

On the other hand, I reckon that giving encouragement to students who make strides in learning leads to many favourable outcomes. To begin with, students are recognized for their efforts, and so they will likely feel motivated to continue making progress. In other words, even if they did not achieve high grades, they would not feel disappointed. In addition, this form of recognition is in line with the holistic approach to learning, which emphasizes the process of learning and acquiring knowledge, not just gaining high marks. Consequently, the impact of issues associated with exam time such as pressure, stress and cheating would be reduced. As students will place their focus just on improving themselves, all of them will benefit equally, and experience less anxiety which, otherwise, they would face in a stressful environment caused by competition.

In conclusion, although rewarding high attainers is advantageous to some extent as it encourages competition and provides special opportunities, I believe that it would be better to reward students for their efforts. With this approach, even average students can feel empowered instead of disappointed. It also means there is less pressure on students at exam time.

📍 Ассоциации
Запоминание происходит за счет прикрепления образа к иностранному слову. Порой эта связь бывает совершенно не логичной, однако самое главное- добиться создания устойчивых ассоциаций с данным словом.

📍 Контекст
Замечали ли вы, что слово в определенном контексте на английском запомнить гораздо легче? Оно словно прилипает к нашему сознанию, и если вы помните одно слово из фразы, второе вспоминается автоматически. Поэтому, когда вы хотите запомнить слово, лучше всего запоминать его в словосочетании.

📍 Изображения
При заучивании используйте изображение, которое отображает значение слова, это значительно облегчит запоминание. Особенно этот метод пригодится, если вы делаете карточки со словами.

📍 Противоположности
Этот метод чем-то схож с методом ассоциаций и запоминания в контексте. Главное здесь- выстраивание связи между запоминаемым словом и его синонимом. Если вы будете помнить одно слово из связки, второе вспомнится автоматически.

📍 Словообразование
Всем известно, что слова в английском языке образуются с помощью суффиксов и приставок. Поэтому эффективнее всего запоминать одно слово и сразу же преобразовывать его в другие части речи. Например: believe (верить) — believable (вероятный) — unbelievable (невероятный) — believing (веруя) — belief (вера) — disbelief (неверие).

📍 Практика

📌 Произношение звука "-th": правила и упражнения:

Полагаю, что звук th «личная» боль многих студентов, изучающих английский язык. Сегодня я расскажу о том, как может звучать это сочетание, как его правильно произносить и какие скороговорки помогут покорить этот звук

✔️ Варианты звучания
У сочетания th существуют звонкий и глухой звуки. В более звонкой вариации сочетание th похоже на русскую букву «з». Обычно, это звук употребляется в служебных словах: these, that, the, etc.

Намного популярнее – глухой звук, похожий на русскую «с», только th – еще более шипящий. (Для него, скорее, характерно слияние звуков «с» и «ш»). Глухой звук встречается в таких самостоятельных словах, как think, thought, thin, etc.

✔️ Техника произношения
Для произнесения глухого (более популярного) звука необходимо поместить расслабленный язык между зубами так, чтобы он не касался губ, и сделать выдох.

💡 Как послушать правильный звук?
Есть лайфхак: помести язык между зубами и произнеси русское слово «состав». Тот звук, который ты произнесешь первым, и будет глухим звучанием th.

Для произнесения звонкого th язык нужно поместить перед передними зубами (или упереться в них языком), по-прежнему, не касаясь губ. Этот звук не создается, благодаря выдоху, а произноситься голосом, что и делает его звонким.
