It do be feeling like that sometimes. Every insecure, monstrous version of yourself just latching on to your back. Attempting to change its purpose, its looks, it's connection to truth.
Our bodies have become like deserts, Our hearts, like Saint Anthony, forced to do battle with the demons who wish to inhabit it.
When i feel like a desert, I find it helpful to remember;

"You formed my inmost being;

you knit me in my mother’s womb.

I praise you, because I am wonderfully made;

wonderful are your works!

My very self you know.

My bones are not hidden from you,

When I was being made in secret,

fashioned in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw me unformed;

in your book all are written down;

my days were shaped, before one came to be."

We were made for so much more... A beauty not meant for this world, but the next.

Now come, I know a King who can bring water to to our hearts. It's time to be lush, and free of demons.
