and this feeling isnt always present, most days you dont even notice the hollowness in your heart. it likes to surprise, in the most unexpected ways. at the metro you see a man with white hair sitting two rows ahead of you, an image of your fathers hands flashes in your head and you ache. a simple view of the lake makes you think of your mother, the calm waves call out your birth name, you hear her voice all around you. but the truth is that she hasnt said your name without the noise of an outdated microphone drowning her loving tone. its all unfamiliar and cruel and draining and you wish that once, just this once, when you open your door you see your own house again. with the kettle on the stove, freshly brewed tea. the scent of your favorite meal greeting you after a tiring day of university. you open your mouth and say سلام من خونم and hear two different voices telling you welcome back, we missed you, did you have fun? come eat with us, we've been waiting for you. did you know that we love you?

did you know that i love you? and i never got to say it without feeling like an idiot. i shouldve hugged you more i shouldve kissed you more but my last months at home were full of war and anxiety and sadness. i didnt get to cherish you the way that i wanted to.

it sucks to miss home when its so far far away. it sucks to come to an empty house. it is draining me i guess, little by little.
