“The significantly increased proportion of cases in the vaccinated population during the Omicron variant was associated with significantly increased hospitalization and deaths among vaccinated population of ≥18 years of age with significant decreased cases, hospitalizations and deaths in unvaccinated.

The vaccine effectiveness (VE) for the third dose was in negative since December 20, 2021.

The decreased cases among the unvaccinated population during the Omicron variant surge is probably due to protection from their prior natural infections that was already shown to give lasting immunity which need further study.”
