Gilead Sciences, maker of Remdesivir, announced the results from two Phase 3 studies of Biktarvy® for the treatment of HIV-1 in treatment-naïve adults.

“In both studies, ≥98% of participants who initiated treatment with Biktarvy and remained in the study for all 240 weeks achieved and maintained an undetectable viral load (HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL) through five years of follow-up.

Gilead notes postmarketing cases of renal impairment, including acute renal failure, proximal renal tubulopathy (PRT), and Fanconi syndrome have been reported with tenofovir alafenamide (TAF)–containing products.”

COVID-19 vaccines: Is the spike protein “toxic”?

“Professor Nikolai Petrovsky says that the spike protein in protein-based vaccines (Novavax/COVAX-19) is markedly different from that generated by gene-based vaccines (Pfizer/Moderna/AZ).

Protein based vaccines inject a fixed amount of spike protein intramuscularly, which remains outside cells.

Gene-based vaccines result in an unregulated amount of spike protein being manufactured inside cells throughout the body, not just specialised immune cells.

A “pseudouridine” molecule has been added to the mRNA to give it a longer half-life than normal mRNA. Therefore, the production of spike protein within the cell is not being turned off.”
