🗣 David_Ornstein: "The feeling among most Premier League clubs that have looked into the possibility seems to be that the salary expectations are difficult to meet, and he is perhaps not the player/character they are looking for at present."
"The consensus among these teams seems to be that Saudi Arabia could well prove his destination, but let's see how it pans out. No doubt he is a brilliant goalscorer and those are in short supply!"

Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior on Djordje Petrovic:
🗣 "The more I see him here, the more he smiles, and the happier he is. It's to his credit. He has a beautiful young family who has settled in the area, and he's going to have a remarkable career.
I love working with him and hopefully somehow we can still collaborate in the future. Whether it's here or elsewhere in five years, I'd like it to be next season."

🚨 Estevao: “A of people are asking me why we chose Chelsea, but they don’t understand how much Chelsea wanted me, and how much belief they have in my potential. Those people don’t know about the project they presented to us. To a young player, these things matter a lot, and I know we’ve made the right decision to go to London. (PlayersTribune)

Estevão tells a story about how his father received a prophecy about his birth and greatness:
🗣 "Before I was born, you had been at the church when this girl had knocked at the door, right? She said, “God is going to give you a son, and he will bring a lot of joy into your life. He will open many doors for you.”
You were surprised, because you didn’t even have a girlfriend at the time. You told her, “Listen, my dream is to found a church and help people. I don’t even want to get married.”
But then the girl read the passage from the Bible where David gets a son named Solomon, who goes on to build temples. She said, “Your son will help you build your church. He will crown you.”
And then you married Mom, and when she got pregnant, you realised that God was fulfilling his promise. That’s why you called me Estêvão — «Crown»."

‼️The signing of a central defender depends on exits and the club have to fund the purchase of a striker and a right-footed winger too. There are two questions to answer on the issue: why Chelsea are pursuing another player in this position at all and what are the ramifications for those centre-backs at the club?
Should another arrive, it will mean Chelsea could field a first XI with just centre-halves — and that does not include those being developed with the under-21s. Already on the the roster for 2025-26 are: Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, Josh Acheampong, Renato Veiga, Aaron Anselmino and Mamadou Sarr.

‼️Chelsea’s history of selling academy players for large fees to register pure profit on the books means some fans may be wondering if cashing in on Colwill has come into their thinking. Chelsea have ignored strong interest from clubs in the Premier League and abroad before. He is still being monitored by many teams. But sources, speaking anonymously to The Athletic to protect relationships, insist the England international is not for sale.

‼️Chalobah is going to be a different story because Chelsea tried to sell the academy graduate last summer. They had to settle for a loan to Crystal Palace before recalling him in January due to Fofana suffering a severe hamstring injury in December. He has played 27 times (for both teams) this season, so that will help Chelsea’s chances of receiving a decent permanent fee. Chalobah, who is 26 in July, will want to continue playing regularly and join a leading club.
Two others expected to be in the outgoing column are Disasi and Veiga.

‼️There are no fears over another homegrown asset in Acheampong. Maresca admitted this month that he ‘loves’ Acheampong and there is no desire for him to go anywhere, even on loan. The 18-year-old, who was officially promoted from the under-21s in December, is seen as someone that can provide cover at right-back and in midfield.

‼️Badiashile is another earmarked in the ‘stay’ category, but there is a more of a question mark over Tosin and whether he is content with a back-up role. He started 78 Premier League games for Fulham between 2020-24, but has just 13 starts for Chelsea following his free transfer from Craven Cottage last summer. The 27-year-old is respected for being one of the few natural leaders in the dressing room.

‼️Chelsea signed Anselmino from Boca Juniors for £17million in August. He is 20 next week (April 29) and one for the future. Anselmino spent the rest of last year loaned back to Boca before being given time to adapt to Chelsea’s Cobham training base and living abroad in England, without the pressure of senior football, since January. He will be loaned out next season and there is interest from Champions League and Europa League clubs.
