๐Ÿ’ธ $1.37 billion, raised through prayer groups and WhatsApp

NovaTech sold itself as a crypto and forex trading platform โ€” and collected $1.16 billion from investors between 2019 and 2023. About $26 million ever reached an actual trading desk. The rest disappeared.

New York AG Letitia James is asking a court to order founders Cynthia and Eddy Petion to repay $1.37 billion in funds and interest. They were found liable by default in August 2025 after simply not showing up. Four recruiters separately settled for nearly $6 million.

The scheme ran through Haitian and other immigrant communities via prayer circles and WhatsApp, promising high returns. Over 11,000 New Yorkers lost tens of millions, per Cointelegraph.

Prayer raised a billion. The courts will try to return it.

๐ŸŽต Apple hid a working iPod inside a 404 page

The iPod turns 25 today โ€” the device that made "1,000 songs in your pocket" feel like a magic trick and rewired the music industry in the process.

Apple's quiet tribute: a fully interactive virtual iPod living on the Apple Music 404 page. Click wheel, menus, 1,029 playable tracks โ€” no subscription needed. The library is peak early-2000s: Baha Men, blink-182, Eminem. Hold the center button on the About screen and Brick appears โ€” the hidden Breakout clone from the original hardware.

Best on mobile, where the touchscreen actually feels right. Why Apple engineered something most users will never find โ€” who knows. Legends don't really need a reason.

๐Ÿ’ธ Microsoft's next console could be the most expensive one it's ever made

Xbox has trailed PlayStation in sales for years. Project Helix looks less like a counterpunch and more like a category change.

Microsoft confirmed Project Helix is built to run both Xbox and PC games โ€” not just a Series X successor, but something closer to a hybrid gaming PC. Fortune's reporting puts internal price estimates at $1,200โ€“$1,800, though Microsoft could subsidize the hardware. Target launch: holiday 2028.

The current Xbox ceiling is the Series X at $499. Helix, unsubsidized, would cost three times that.

The price gap between consoles and PCs was always the whole pitch. Microsoft seems fine with closing it.

๐Ÿ’ธ Anthropic files for IPO โ€” $16B in revenue, $80B in losses

Claude's maker dropped its S-1 Monday morning. The headline numbers are worth a double-take: $16.3 billion in first-half 2026 revenue and an $80.7 billion net loss. Share count and price range stay undisclosed; the FT says investors expect a $1.5โ€“1.75 trillion valuation, with pricing eyed for Nov. 19โ€“20.

Chip stocks jumped in premarket โ€” NVDA +1.4%, MU +2.3%. On Hyperliquid, the ANTH contract spiked to ~$1,980 at filing time, then shed 6% within minutes. Five minutes of excitement, then gravity.

Losses nearly five times larger than revenue, valued at a trillion and a half. Welcome to the AI era.

๐Ÿ’ธ Brazil burned overnight

Polymarket and Kalshi had senator Flรกvio Bolsonaro at 80% odds heading into Sunday's runoff. Lula won 51.79% to 48.21% โ€” and markets paid for the miscall with other people's money.

EWZ, the New York-traded ETF tracking Brazil's biggest companies, cratered 26% to $31.40. B3 triggered its first circuit breaker since the pandemic โ€” 30 minutes frozen. About as effective as a band-aid on a burst pipe: the index kept falling once trading resumed. Dollar up 12% against the real; total hit for a dollar-based investor โ€” that same brutal 26%.

After October's first round, where Bolsonaro led, markets called it done and pushed EWZ up 10%-plus. Monday erased all of it, then took another 11%.

Bolsonaro refused to concede. Odd footnote: his own campaign had also requested extended voting hours in three states.

๐Ÿš€ The longest LEGO ever built โ€” and of course it's Vader's ship

LEGO's Executor Super Star Destroyer just knocked the LEGO Titanic off the top spot: 53.5 inches versus 53.1. The margin is 0.4 inches โ€” roughly one stud tile.

Two boxes, 54 bags, four booklets. The finished model takes over an entire desk, and IGN's reviewer notes it looks more like a convention display than something you can actually buy at retail.

The fan service runs deep: a micro-scale Devastator from A New Hope's opening shot, a minifigure-scale bridge โ€” and for the first time ever, all six bounty hunters in one set: Fett, Bossk, IG-88, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, Dengar.

By canon, the Executor was larger than Manhattan. One grey tile represents several city blocks. At some point this stops being a toy.

๐Ÿ”Œ Ford Fathom: the truck with a power grid inside

The F-150 Lightning needed a separate $10,000 inverter box to back up your home. Ford's upcoming Fathom โ€” a $28K pickup due later this year โ€” buries the inverter inside the vehicle and pushes out over 10 kW of AC power natively.

Ford is also cutting the cost of the required home hardware: the backup bundle targets ~$3,123 vs. a typical $5,205, and five major US and Canadian utilities are onboard to reduce the paperwork.

Permitting and an electrician still fall on the owner. But the pitch is clear: a truck that moonlights as home infrastructure โ€” not a boutique perk, as The Verge notes.

๐Ÿ’ธ India's biggest debut

Jio Platforms โ€” Mukesh Ambani's telecom giant, backed by Meta and Google โ€” jumped 21% on its market debut Wednesday, opening at โ‚น1,358 against an IPO price of โ‚น1,119. That puts its valuation at $131.9 billion, India's second-largest listed company after parent Reliance Industries.

Demand ran 22 times the shares available; 13.8 million people applied โ€” a record for any Indian IPO. The company listed with $3.2 billion in annual profit (+15%) and 540 million subscribers.

At the ceremony, Akash Ambani โ€” Mukesh's son, now running the business โ€” kept it simple:

"My dream is that one day, when the world counts its great technology companies, one of them will be from India, and that company will be called Jio Platforms Limited."

$3.2 billion raised before the dream even starts, Fortune reports.

๐Ÿ–– Walter Koenig, 1936โ€“2025

Chekov has left the bridge. Walter Koenig โ€” the actor behind *Star Trek*'s Russian navigator Ensign Pavel Chekov โ€” died Sunday at his home in North Hollywood, daughter and niece by his side. He was 90.

He joined the show in its second season, Beatles mop-top and all, and stayed for every one of the six original-cast feature films. With his passing, only William Shatner and George Takei remain from that first Enterprise crew.

His last interview came in 2024 โ€” 57 years of the franchise, remembered with wit and warmth, per TMZ.

๐ŸŽฌ The doctor's time has come

Noah Wyle is 54, and he's just been named People's Sexiest Man Alive โ€” for the first time in a career that started back in 1994.

Most people know him as John Carter from *ER*, the show that also launched George Clooney. Clooney, for what it's worth, publicly "nominated" Wyle for exactly this title back in January, saying "when I grow up, I want to be Noah Wyle." Called it.

These days Wyle anchors HBO's *The Pitt*, playing a worn-down attending physician who clearly has things to say. The role earned him a Golden Globe in 2026 and back-to-back Emmy wins in 2025 and 2026. Season 3 lands in January 2027.

People's list has run since 1985 โ€” Mel Gibson started the whole thing. Wyle follows Jonathan Bailey and joins a roster that includes Chris Evans, Paul Rudd and Idris Elba.

Thirty years in the business, and Hollywood finally gets around to noticing.

๐Ÿ’พ AI memory demand is double what SK Hynix can actually ship

South Korea's SK Hynix, the primary supplier of high-bandwidth memory for AI chips, just posted its first-ever quarter above 100 trillion won in revenue (~$78B) โ€” up 328% year-on-year, with an 80% operating margin.

The real story: DRAM and HBM volumes through 2029 are sold out, demand is expected to exceed supply through 2030, and customers are asking for double what the company can deliver. Fourteen major cloud and tech customers have already locked in long-term contracts on 2027โ€“2028 capacity.

Asked whether AI might be a bubble, the CEO pointed to 30โ€“80% cloud revenue growth and order backlogs that have doubled.

Maybe there's a bubble. The memory to feed it runs out first.

๐ŸŽฎ Wendy's made a pixel RPG. It actually looks good.

Wendy's โ€” the burger chain โ€” is dropping a turn-based RPG on Steam: WendyQuest: Legend of the Four Corner Stones. The trailer is out, and the internet is split between "wait, is this good?" and "this is genuinely good."

Wendy and three companions (Sir Chicken included) battle mech-monsters to save a culinary kingdom. Enemies are animated menu items โ€” Frydusa is a fry container gone full snake-pit. HP restores via Dave's Single. The dialogue leans in: "Where's the beef?"

Developer is 81monkeys, an indie studio from BC. The Steam page proudly notes it's "100% human made" โ€” which in 2025 is its own kind of flex, per IGN.

Marketing you'd actually want to finish. Rare species.

๐Ÿ’ธ The Quiet Price of Silence

xAI has been building massive data centers in Southaven, Mississippi โ€” and is already facing lawsuits from residents over near-constant noise from its gas-fired turbines. The company's solution: buy the neighbors out.

Subsidiary MZX is reportedly offering to purchase 418 homes near the site. The catch: sellers must sign away all legal claims. Eighteen owners have already agreed; renters got 60 days to leave after their landlords said yes.

MZX's letter is admirably candid โ€” the company "denies all allegations" but happens to need the property for business purposes. Legally tidy. Morally, well.

๐ŸŽฌ Mr. Darcy has a new address: Netflix

Jane Austen doesn't go out of style โ€” she just gets a new streaming deal. Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its six-part Pride and Prejudice, arriving December 3, 2026.

Emma Corrin plays Elizabeth Bennet; Jack Lowden โ€” fresh off *Slow Horses* and a serious run at James Bond โ€” steps in as the famously proud Mr. Darcy. Dolly Alderton wrote the scripts, Euros Lyn directs, and the team is billing it as a faithful retelling: adversaries to lovers, 19th-century English society, the whole beloved machinery.

The trailer reads warm and sun-soaked. Classic is classic โ€” sometimes you don't reinvent the wheel, you just polish it.

๐Ÿ’ป Apple finally caved

A decade of resistance, one buried Touch Bar experiment, and today โ€” a full touchscreen MacBook Pro. No caveats.

๐Ÿ”ธ PROLED XDR, 14" and 16", 2,000 nits, 10,000,000:1 contrast
๐Ÿ”ธ M5 Pro / M5 Max, up to 128GB RAM, up to 16TB storage
๐Ÿ”ธ Dynamic Island cutout, stabilising hinge for tap-without-wobble

Starts at $2,899 (14") and $3,399 (16"). Yesterday's M6 MacBook Pro from $1,999 makes the touchscreen clearly a premium tier, not the new normal.

Second big launch in two months for new CEO John Turnus. The man did not come to coast.
