💸 Steam Deck OLED is $789 — but there's a more interesting option

Lenovo's Legion Go S running SteamOS is currently $999.99 at Best Buy — and for that extra $200 over the base Steam Deck, you get a lot: an 8-inch IPS display at 1080p/120Hz versus the Deck's 800p/90Hz, double the RAM and storage (32GB / 1TB), two-stage triggers, and a Ryzen Z1 Extreme under the hood.

Here's the quiet paradox: Lenovo also sells a version of this same device with the newer Ryzen Z2 Go chip — but the Z2 Go is actually slower than the Z1 Extreme. Sometimes "newer" just means "different".

The ROG Ally X20 with its OLED and Z2 Extreme beats it on raw power, but that'll run you $1,299.99 — $300 more. The Legion Go S sits exactly in between: not a flagship, but not a budget compromise either.

The Verge tested multiple configurations with full benchmarks — worth a look before you decide.

🎬 Elizabeth Holmes is selling out theaters — from behind bars

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced to 11 years for investor fraud after her blood-testing startup turned out to be an elaborate fiction. Books, podcasts, a Hulu series — the story's been told. But filmmakers got exclusive access to Holmes in the weeks before she reported to prison, with *The Rehearsal*'s Nathan Fielder co-directing.

The result: $15 million opening weekend across 855 theaters — second-biggest documentary debut ever — and 99% on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Aaron Sorkin's *Social Network* follow-up managed $5.5M. Alex Gibney's *Musk* doc made $306,702.

Holmes once sold a technology that didn't exist. Per TechCrunch, the documentary about it is the one actually breaking records.

🎤 Taylor Swift's first full-band night since the Eras Tour

The Eras Tour ended over a year ago — and Saturday, at the Academy Museum Gala in Hollywood, Swift finally returned to a stage with a full band behind her.

The headliner: "The Fate of Ophelia" got its first-ever live performance, a year after release. The 2027 Grammy frontrunner had never been heard outside a studio until this black-tie room got it.

Also making its full-band debut: "I Knew It, I Knew You" from *Toy Story 5*. The remaining two slots went to "Blank Space" and "Love Story." Guitarist Paul Sidoti marked the night on Instagram — first stage together since the Eras Tour, 19 years of touring between them.

Conan O'Brien's introduction: "She's John, Paul, George and Ringo all in one."

🎬 The documentary that out-earned Borat's per-screen record

Elizabeth Holmes — the Theranos founder convicted of billion-dollar fraud, now 11 years into a prison sentence — is the subject of a documentary A24 spent three years making in total secrecy.

Result: $15 million from 855 theaters. Zendaya and Pattinson in *The Drama* pulled $14.3M — from 3,087 locations. Biggest documentary opening in 20 years, best debut on under 1,000 screens since *Borat*. Budget: ~$7M. Ninety percent of audiences said they'd definitely recommend it.

First place went to *Street Fighter* at $31M — 42% on Rotten Tomatoes, a "B−" CinemaScore, and a $82M budget. Third attempt to adapt the Capcom series since Van Damme in 1994. The tournament has not improved with age.

A film about a convicted fraudster, more profitable per screen than a Hollywood blockbuster. Funny how that works, per Variety.

🚗 Tesla just showed a flying car. Actual one.

Outside SpaceX's Texas facility last night, Musk unveiled a new Roadster — then demonstrated it. The prototype drove upside down up a ramp on suction grip, launched off the top, righted itself mid-air on rocket thrusters, and landed. Piloted remotely "to make sure we don't kill anyone."

SpaceX thrusters along the underbody, half-the-speed-of-sound claims, mid-air flips. Musk called it "not necessarily a safety-optimized car" and the only future Tesla with a steering wheel. Target: 2028.

Doc Brown actor Christopher Lloyd posted "Finally… flying cars." MKBHD called it a prank. The internet settled on *Rocket League* as the reference — which tracks.

The Verge has the full story. Whether it ever reaches a real road is another question entirely.

🚗 Rockstar drove GTA 6 into real Miami — literally

With the November 19 launch approaching, Rockstar rolled a convoy of real supercars through Miami — wrapped as in-game models, carrying Leonida plates, and led by a VCPD-liveried Lamborghini.

The lineup included a McLaren dressed as the Progen Emerus, plus the Cheetah, Coquette D10, Tempesta, and Manana. A Goodyear blimp with a GTA 6 ad floated overhead while local news filmed the cars at a gas station, visibly puzzled.

"Miami is so unserious for turning a game launch into a city-wide event like this is just a normal Tuesday for them."

Rockstar spent years on Florida research trips to get the city right. Now Miami is returning the favour. IGN has the story.

🔥 AMG's first ever ground-up SUV

In 59 years, AMG never built a full-size SUV from scratch. The 2028 AMG GT SUV changes that: 1,153hp, three axial flux motors, and 710kW peak charging — more than double the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric's 320kW. Ten minutes at a charger nets 450km WLTP range.

🔸 Three trims: GT 53 (106kWh) through GT 63 (128kWh, ~435mi range)
🔸 Active hydraulic suspension replaces mechanical roll bars
🔸 F1-derived battery with per-cell oil cooling
🔸 Simulated AMG V8 sound, paddle-shift feedback, seat vibration

No pricing yet — which, given the spec sheet, may be the only scary part.

🔴 Richard Heart arrested in Istanbul

Richard Heart — real name Richard Schueler — founded crypto projects HEX, PulseChain and PulseX. The SEC charged him in 2023 with raising over $1 billion through unregistered offerings; the case was dropped in 2025 for lack of U.S. jurisdiction. Finland wasn't so forgiving — tax fraud and assault charges there triggered an Interpol Red Notice.

On Wednesday, Turkish police detained Heart and his wife in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, seizing $4 million in cash, 64 luxury watches, firearms and electronics.

He'd been living quietly in Istanbul — until Interpol found the address.

🎬 Holmes playing Holmes played by Seyfried playing Holmes

Elizabeth Holmes — Theranos founder, 11-year fraud sentence — let Nathan Fielder film her in the weeks before prison. *You Can See Everything* takes that access and keeps escalating.

Halfway through, Amanda Seyfried arrives. She won an Emmy playing Holmes in Hulu's *The Dropout*, and now Fielder puts her back in the role to reconstruct what cameras missed — including a pre-shoot negotiation where Holmes' boyfriend demanded payment, A24 agreed, and Holmes claims she'd conveniently stepped out.

The film ends on one disputed word. Holmes insists the *Times* misquoted her: «they created» not «I created». Seyfried, reading Holmes' own words off a script, shrugs: *"It's not lies. It's fucking TV."* The loop the film traps you in is entirely the point.

💡 Porsche is building something above the 911

Porsche's profit margin collapsed from 18% to just 1% in three years. The recovery plan — "Sportwagenschmiede '35" — got its most interesting piece today in New York: the Mission S concept, a mid-engined sports car slotting above the 911.

Unlike the Carrera GT or 918 Spyder, this isn't a limited run for collectors. It's a future production model — sell fewer cars, charge more, hit double-digit margins by 2035. The downside of the same plan: 9,000 jobs cut across VW Group.

Porsche's cure for a financial crisis is a car most people can't afford. On-brand, at least.

🔫 When the heist is planned in the barracks

Canada's crypto kidnapping streak — WonderFi's CEO ransomed for $720,000 in 2024, "Crypto King" Pleterski's abductors in court in 2025 — just got a new chapter.

On July 25, a Toronto crypto exchange owner was seized at gunpoint near his car: handcuffed, beaten, pressured for access to his assets, then released with threats to stay quiet.

Seven arrested. Three are active military. Searches found 3D-printed pistols, silencers, drugs, and 2,700 rounds of ammo — 2,500 of them stolen from the armed forces.

Eighty-two charges including kidnapping for ransom. Per CityNews, the victim and exchange remain unnamed.

The rounds used to threaten a civilian are logged as government property.

💡 Sony's new Walkman costs as much as a used car

The company that invented the portable music player has no interest in making it affordable. The NW-WM1ZM3 is built around a 99.99% pure oxygen-free copper chassis — gold-plated, and Sony insists that's not just flex. The official line: the gold treatment ensures a stable ground connection, delivering powerful bass and "smooth, extended high frequencies."

It also packs 35 hours of battery life and a 5.5-inch screen. Preorders are open now; units ship in January.

For context: Sony's previous gold Walkman, the NW-WM1ZM2, launched in 2022 at $3,200 — and now trades on eBay for around $1,500. The audiophile market is remarkable in that "used gold media player" reads as a perfectly reasonable product category.

💸 The factory that recycled its own victims

The scheme ran in two acts: lure Russian-speaking Americans into a fake investment platform, then approach the same victims again — this time selling fake "recovery" services. Tens of millions extracted that way.

Last week, Brooklyn prosecutors and the FBI dismantled the backbone: 241 websites shut down, 112 servers seized. No arrests — but the goal was never that. As long as the servers ran, new domains could be spun up overnight. Now they can't.

The backdrop, per Bloomberg: Americans reported $11.4 billion in crypto fraud losses in 2024 — up 22% year-on-year. No product required, just persuasion.

🎮 GTA 6 is no longer a horizon

Thirteen years is a long time to live off one trailer. GTA VI has officially gone gold — Rockstar dropped the launch trailer on October 15, locking in November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No more "coming soon."

The trailer centers on Jason and Lucia, a partnership that starts with a job and ends up somewhere considerably more complicated. Leonida — think Miami with extra consequences — is the backdrop. Getting rich is the goal. Getting out is the plan.

One detail worth noting: the original score was composed by French electronic duo Justice, debuting with a track called "Flower in a Hurricane." Rockstar has always known how to pick its collaborators.
