Paramount+ dropped the Season 2 trailer for *Dexter: Resurrection*. Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan — older, and apparently dealing with a midlife crisis between kills. He's caught between a seasoned murderer with decades behind him and a brutal newcomer terrorizing New York, while son Harrison (Jack Alcott) runs his own parallel hunt.

New faces include Brian Cox, Dan Stevens and Krysten Ritter. Showrunner Clyde Phillips — who ran the original series — is back in the chair, per Variety. Premiere: October 30 on Paramount+.

After the 2013 finale fans still haven't forgiven, that last detail might matter most.

🎮 Rockstar bought itself a slice of real Miami

~$1 million to light up the top of Miami's Kaseya Center — home of the NBA's Miami Heat — with "Welcome to Vice City" and the Roman numerals "VI."

The same arena sits in the exact same spot in GTA 6's game world, same ferris wheel next door. The real city and Vice City overlap so cleanly it would've been strange *not* to use it.

It still required a county vote. One commissioner played gameplay footage and argued the game doesn't reflect local values. Commissioner Monica Matteo-Salinas disagreed:

"This is a win for gamers and gaming nerds such as myself."

💸 New York just made subscriptions a two-way street

Starting October 1st, NYC has the first municipal click-to-cancel rule in US history: if you can sign up in two clicks, you must be able to cancel the same way. Violations carry penalties from $525, and consumers can claim refunds for charges already pulled from their accounts.

The backstory has a neat irony — this mirrors the national FTC protections designed by former chair Lina Khan, killed by Trump's FTC. Khan now works in the Mamdani administration. The federal door closed; she found a city one.

💸 Nvidia is worth more than the entire crypto market. Twice over.

At $5.7 trillion, Nvidia just set an all-time record — for itself and for any company ever. Bitcoin and the whole crypto market combined sit at just above $3 trillion. One chipmaker outweighs all of it.

The stock hit $237.88 on Friday, its first record since May. Three things converged: a $150 billion buyback addition (total $235 billion through 2028, the largest in history), Supermicro shipping Vera Rubin-based server racks packing 72 GPUs each, and a weak jobs report cooling Fed rate-hike bets — which hurts Nvidia's rivals more than Nvidia itself.

Last quarter: $96.2 billion in revenue, up 106% year on year. Guidance for the current quarter: $108 billion. As Jensen Huang put it — "Now, compute is revenue."

Tavus builds conversational AI avatars. Their new Griffin-Lite just posted a striking number: 26 out of 54 participants finished a one-minute video call believing they'd spoken to a real person. The previous system convinced one out of 41.

Caveat: participants were told they'd meet another human — no one mentioned a bot. Results are self-reported and unverified. On NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark, Griffin-Lite ranks first: 3.83 versus 2.80 for the next-best system.

The model isn't public yet — Tavus is still building safety measures. When the creators themselves won't ship it, that tells you more than any press release. Especially given that North Korea-linked hackers were already running deepfake video calls — with far cruder tools.

🎬 Four attempts. One finally works.

Brian De Palma's 1976 *Carrie* remains the gold standard. Three revivals — 1999, 2002, 2013 — all failed. Now Mike Flanagan (*Gerald's Game*, *Doctor Sleep*) brings an eight-episode series to Prime Video in 2026, and it actually holds up.

He remixes rather than retells: Carrie enters high school as the new girl for the first time in any version, and Margaret White becomes a crusader against an anonymous Instagram account targeting her daughter. Samantha Sloyan, a Flanagan regular, owns every scene she's in.

After three misfires, the fourth attempt counts.

🎬 Disney+ is raising prices for the fourth time in four years

$6.99 in 2019, $21.49 in 2026 — 207% in seven years. Disney+ and Hulu are hiking again, and the real question is what you're getting for it.

Netflix makes originals, Apple TV+ wins awards, Hulu has The Bear and Shogun. Disney+ is mostly running on Marvel, Star Wars, and nostalgia. The ad-supported bundle at $12.49 is the only offer that feels honest.

Raising prices while subscribers cut back on everything else is a bet that habit beats a calculator. Sometimes it does. It's still a risky bet.
