Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face โ the leading platform for sharing and deploying open-source AI models โ for $12.93 billion. CEO Jensen Huang confirmed the deal on Thursday.
Hugging Face was founded in 2016. The platform currently serves 18 million developers and hosts more than 3 million models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications. Over 200,000 companies use it to evaluate and deploy AI.
Huang said the platform will remain open: support for third-party clouds, accelerators, and models from other developers will continue, and Nvidia hardware will not be required to build or deploy through Hugging Face.

Starting in November, Xbox Cloud Gaming will no longer be unlimited. Ultimate subscribers get 15 hours per month, Premium gets 10, and Essential gets 5. Additional hours can be purchased in bundles through the Xbox Store โ pricing hasn't been announced yet โ and unused hours will carry over to the next month.
Unlimited cloud access was introduced across all Game Pass tiers less than a year ago. Microsoft says the change is driven by the rising cost of cloud infrastructure as usage grows, and expects it to affect roughly 4% of subscribers.
At the same time, the company is extending cloud gaming access to users without a Game Pass subscription, who will be able to buy hour bundles and stream games they already own, according to The Verge.

An AI system called Gap Optical Targeting detects gaps between teeth and fires a conical mouthrinse jet into them within 100 milliseconds โ developed with the dental faculty at the National University of Singapore.
The companion app streams the feed live but stores nothing. That's a deliberate choice for now โ a camera embedded in a daily-use device is already infrastructure for tracking gum health and plaque over time. How far Dyson intends to go with that remains open.

Square Enix has confirmed the release date for the third and final chapter of its Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, announced during Sony's PlayStation State of Play.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a probe covering around 1,000 Cybercabs shortly after Tesla began commercial robotaxi service in Austin, Texas.
Tesla self-certified the vehicles as compliant with federal safety standards. NHTSA will now review that process and the underlying data โ including which standards actually apply to a vehicle with no pedals, steering wheel or mirrors.
Reuters reports that of 420 autonomous vehicles Tesla has registered in Texas, 45 are Cybercabs. How many are carrying passengers versus testing remains unclear.
