Foldables are still a niche market — Samsung leads, Huawei trails, everyone else picks up crumbs. Apple hasn't entered yet. Counterpoint Research went ahead and modeled what happens when it does.

Their 2026 forecast: one in four foldable smartphones shipped globally will be an iPhone Ultra. Straight to second place, ahead of Huawei, behind only Samsung.

🎬 The Blade Runner universe is back — and the power balance has flipped

Quick context: Blade Runner is Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi classic about humans and engineered humanoids called replicants. The 2017 sequel went quiet after that.

The first live-action series in franchise history lands November 25 on Prime Video. Eight episodes, Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer leading, Scott as executive producer.

The trailer is dense neon cyberpunk — and looks expensive. Set 50 years after 2049, replicants now run society, humans are the minority. Schafer plays blade runner Cora; Yeoh plays the replicant she reluctantly teams up with. Billed as a limited series — one contained story, full stop.

For a franchise that's struggled with sequels, that might be exactly right.

Cristian Volpato — 22-year-old Socceroos midfielder who played at this year's World Cup — had quite the Thursday night in Sydney.

First stop on Anzac Bridge: 86–94 km/h in a 60 zone, breath test clean. Two hours later, same road, now 109 km/h — and a positive roadside test for cocaine.

To mark 25 years in Japan, Lamborghini built exactly 25 Revuelto Impavidos through its Ad Personam program. The name alone spans three cultures — Spanish, Italian, Bushido — and the design follows through: katana creases on the doors, gold odoshi lacing, a front fascia shaped after the samurai helmet crest maedate.

Four colorways, each symbolic. One pulls from the Sanada clan's battlefield red.

The drivetrain is standard Revuelto: naturally aspirated V12, three electric motors, 1,001 hp, 217 mph+. No price listed. With 25 cars, it sells itself to whoever gets the call.

🎮 Faye steps forward — with a war of her own

The God of War saga started as a Greek warrior's revenge on Olympus, evolved into a Norse epic, and now takes its boldest turn yet. Faye — Kratos' wife, who died in *Ragnarok* — is the protagonist this time.

God of War Laufey arrives on PS5 on February 16 next year. Players follow Laufey through the afterlife of gods, picking up right where *Ragnarok* left her. A gameplay teaser dropped about a month ago already showed she's nobody's background character — she's cutting enemies apart mid-air and wielding magic against creatures the franchise has never shown before.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Santa Monica Studio confirmed the release date and added one more thing: a new Kratos-led God of War is also coming after this one.

Faye isn't a detour. She's a whole new door.

🔥 Ryan Gosling Is Ghost Rider — And Yes, This Is Real

Marvel spent years dropping hints, fans spent years asking nicely — and at Comic-Con's Hall H, Kevin Feige finally made it official: Ryan Gosling is joining the MCU as Ghost Rider.

The film is directed by Shawn Levy, who paired with Gosling on *Star Wars: Starfighter* and helmed the record-breaking *Deadpool & Wolverine*. Release: 2028.

Gosling spent years publicly campaigning for the role — openly talking about his love for the character. It's genuinely rare for an actor to lobby a studio this hard and actually win. The fact that Levy is attached suggests Marvel isn't treating this as a side quest.

🚗 The door that won't open

Tesla's flush electronic door handles — recessed into the body for aerodynamics — go dead in a crash along with everything else. More than a dozen people survived the impact, then couldn't escape the burning car.

NHTSA rejected a defect investigation petition from a Silicon Valley engineer who had to climb out through a rear window after a head-on collision. Instead, per The Verge, the regulator is pursuing something broader: new standards that would require all automakers to include a clear emergency exit mechanism. Earliest likely outcome: 2030.

China banned electronic handles outright this year. Tesla has promised a redesign, on no particular timeline — the goal, says design chief Franz von Holzhausen, is handles that are more intuitive in a panic situation.

💸 Real-world assets just took over a crypto exchange

Hyperliquid is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange — and last week it crossed a line it had never crossed before.

From July 13–19, tokenized real-world assets (stocks, bonds, funds on-chain) drove $25.1B in volume, or 52% of Hyperliquid's $48.2B weekly total. First time ever one category outweighed everything else combined — and per ARK Invest's research director, Hyperliquid's RWA market alone beat the combined crypto-perp volume of every other DEX.

Over the same month, RWA holders grew 32% to 1.25 million users, still a sector most people call a niche experiment. Circle's co-founder called it a "major structural shift." NYSE parent ICE is already asking regulators to clear the way for 24/7 on-chain futures. Per Blockworks.

The kind of milestone people tend to reference later as the moment it became obvious.

🤖 Pokémon Cards Get a Biometric Bouncer

Pokémon card scalping has pushed Japan's official stores to an unlikely fix: mandatory facial recognition for all adults and children from elementary school age up. 🤖 The book that invented cyberspace is finally getting its screen moment

William Gibson wrote *Neuromancer* in 1984 — before the internet, before AI, before any of it. The novel that coined "cyberspace" and built the cyberpunk genre waited 42 years for an adaptation. Date confirmed at Comic-Con: January 22, 2027.

Callum Turner plays Case, Briana Middleton is Molly — mirror eyes, razor fingernails — and Mark Strong is Armitage. Gibson himself is an executive producer. Ten episodes, Fridays through March 19. The trailer is exactly as dark as it should be.

Forty-two years is a long wait. At least now there's an internet to argue about it on — which feels very on-brand.
