Happy International Women’s Day! 🌸
Today we celebrate the strength and achievements of women who changed history — including inspiring pioneers from Kazakhstan.
Gulsum Asfendiyarova was the first Kazakh woman to receive higher medical education, graduating from a women’s medical institute in Saint Petersburg. She helped develop healthcare in the Turkestan region and performed one of the first successful C-sections, saving both mother and child.
Akkal Kalybayeva became the first Kazakh woman Doctor of Philological Sciences and a professor, dedicating her life to studying and preserving the Kazakh language.
Nazipa Kulzhanova was the first professional Kazakh woman journalist and used her voice to speak about women’s rights, education, and culture.
Their stories remind us that progress begins when women dare to learn, speak, and lead.
