why HEPES? In general, the optimal culture environment for most cells is pH 7.2-pH 7.4 [1][2], and the buffering range of HEPES falls exactly in pH 6.8-pH 8.2, which is favorable for cell culture. Compared with other buffers such as PBS (phosphate buffered saline) and TRIS, HEPES has higher stability in maintaining the pH values of the cell culture media[3][4][5], that’s also the reason why HEPES is widely used in cell culture , tissue culture, protein purification and extraction, immunoprecipitation, cell lysis, live cell imaging and other biological/biochemical researches.

太厉害了

首先博士期间刚好和组里一起发了一篇关于如何用现代人基因作为磁铁吸附&富集土壤里即使只有0.03%的古代人基因的方法
然后从德国回到中国,作为第一人,用这个方法把中国各个地方的古代人基因(包括mtDNA)都研究了一遍,发了好多的CNS

Human population history at the crossroads of East and Southeast Asia since 11,000 years ago (cell 2021)
They used ancient DNA (aDNA) to reveal the dynamic changes of different groups of ancestors.
The aDNA extraction technique is developed also by Qiaomei Fu and her team when she was a PhD student in 2013 which can make modern people’s DNA into a magnet-like primer to absorb and enrich ancient people’s genes in soil even the ancient genes in the soil is only 0.03%.
They suggested Guangxin province served as an important genetic exchange junction point for both North East Asian and Southeast Asian groups.
Her group also published another paper using the same dataset but instead of using nuclear gene for analysis, the other is using mtDNA information. (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1673852721001703?via%3Dihub)
