What is the Quantum Apocalypse and what you need to know about it? 💥
The advent of quantum computers poses a serious threat to many cryptocurrencies. In fact, this will be the main blow, because most other services, if they do suffer, will be able to recover relatively quickly. Problems will arise for those services where it is not possible to simply update cryptography — for example, government services with digital signatures. The certificate authorization service will also suffer. Roughly speaking, everything that is "tied" to https will suffer.
How do we at Cellframe take this into account?
⚡️ Cellframe is a quantum-resistant blockchain designed to provide security in the era of quantum computing. We use NIST-recommended (National Institute of Standards and Technology) post-quantum signatures and other advanced cryptography methods
⚡️ In classical cryptography, to speed up the process, only the current iteration of data can be stored in memory. In post-quantum cryptography, all intermediate data must be stored. This requires huge amounts of memory — quantum computers are not yet capable of this
⚡️ Emergency protocols: in the event of a quantum hack, we can stop the bridge and all trading to protect user funds
⚡️ We are forced to limit the LP staking period for CELL tokens ERC-20 and BEP-20 in quantum-insecure networks to six months. This is a temporary measure until we complete the development of emergency algorithms for the emergency evacuation of funds to the native network in the event of a series of quantum hacks
⚡️ We are constantly on the alert and strive to prevent threats. We focus on platform security, fogging services and post-quantum encryption, ensuring full readiness for the quantum apocalypse
