🚀 Celer State Guardian Network Launches on Mainnet 🚀
We are excited to announce that the Phase One of the Celer State Guardian Network (SGN) mainnet is now up and running! SGN is the last piece of Celer Network’s coherent layer-2 scaling platform. Today’s launch marks another significant milestone of the Celer layer-2 blockchain scaling platform after the Celer State Channel Network, which was successfully launched more than a year ago and supports hundreds of thousands of users today.
TL;dr
SGN will be fully launched out in multiple phases to maximize security and to exercise the SGN on-chain governance functionality . To ensure a fair launch and staking reward distribution, the first phase (now till end of November) will NOT have reward distribution to make sure our community can practice and understand the process of delegation and staking before the reward starts to distribute fairly. We have also included full instructions for our community members who did not get a chance to try the whole process out to try out delegation, and later validation, directly on the mainnet. We also published a block reward schedule out after extensive research on similar projects and we are open to community feedback.

Needless to say, 2020 has been a special year for all of us. The world came to a stop early in 2020 and tumbled on the whole year. We all witnessed the greatness and bravery of medical workers around the globe and heart-broken moments in many people’s life. Here, we just want to first wish everyone a truly better 2021.
For Celer’s team, we feel very lucky that our team stayed healthy and strong together. We spent 2020 in a heads-down building mode with major milestones achieved on both the technical side and large-scale real-world adoption. TL;DR:
The entire DeFi ecosystem is like a city with many cool yield-earning shops. However, the only way to get around in it today is by hiring an expensive private limo (individual layer1 txs to provide liquidity). This prevents non-millionaires from benefiting from DeFi.
layer2.finance is basically a subway network under DeFi City (the layer2 rollup scaling platform). Multiple people can get on the same train (i.e. pool liquidity on L1 and aggregate their demands to provide liquidity on L2) and split the costs of a single ride (one tx on L1).
It's 100% non-custodial because the whole subway system is built as a layer-2 rollup scaling platform. More importantly, it can dynamically expand to more stations and even more cities (other layer2 or layer1 chains) as the demands grow and the ecosystem evolves.

Celer Network is thrilled to announce the launch of layer2.finance v0.1 on the Ethereum mainnet! The goal of layer2.finance was to democratize DeFi by directly addressing the two biggest challenges preventing DeFi from reaching mass adoption: the extraordinarily high transaction fees and being very difficult to navigate and use.
Layer2.finance is a novel solution that allows people to access all existing DeFi protocols at a fraction of the cost by acting like a “DeFi Public Transportation System”. With Celer’s advanced layer-2 rollup technology, multiple people split the cost of individual L1 DeFi transactions in a completely trust-free and non-custodial way. Layer2.finance’s simple, “turn-key” user interface (UI), was inspired by you, our community, who was generous with your feedback and support.
For the initial launch, three DeFi protocols on Ethereum are supported on layer2.finance: Compound, AAVE, and Curve (with many more to come soon).
