🇧🇪 Also on Thursday 10th Germany’s largest industrial trade union IG Metall mobilized hundreds of workers for a "warning" strike in two German states.

The unions mobilized in Bavaria & in Baden-Württemberg.

They are demanding an 8% rise for employees in automotive, metal & electrical industries due to soaring inflation & energy bills, which are now more than 40% higher.

German government proposed an one-off 3,000€ payment. Workers insist on permanent 8% raise in addition to the one-off payment.

🔥 Update

USA midterm elections

Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto is projected to narrowly defeat Republican challenger Adam Laxalt in Nevada. With 98% of votes counted she is expected to win.

This secures control of the Senate for the Democrats!

They reach 50 seats vs. 49 of Republicans. So even if the last state in Georgia goes to Republicans there will be a tie 50-50.

But then the VP and member of Democrats Kamala Harris has the decisive vote. So a tie means Democrats keep control of the Senate!

Iranian who inspired "The Terminal" film dies at Paris airport.

Mehran Karimi Nasseri, 76, died on Saturday after a heart attack in the airport’s Terminal 2F.

Nasseri’s mind-boggling tale inspired Steven Spielberg’s 2004 movie The Terminal starring Tom Hanks, as well as a French film Lost in Transit, and an opera called Flight.

He lived in the departure lounge of Terminal 1 in Charles de Gaulle Airport from 26 August 1988 until July 2006, when he was hospitalized.

He stayed there at first because he found himself in legal limbo. Reason is he lacked residency papers. Later on he remained there as reported by choice.

Last months he was living again in the airport.
