5 WORDS TO AVOID in WRITING 🙅‍♀️🙅

1. Get
This word feels a little bit informal. There is always a replacement that does the job. For example, 'get a job' could be replaced with 'find a job'. 'Get some clothes' could be 'buy' or 'purchase' some clothes.

2. Pretty
By this I mean expressions like 'pretty good'. Basically 'pretty + adjective' is a fairly informal structure that is best used in speaking.

3. Really
It's inappropriate for formal writing for the exact same reason as above.

4. Totally
I often see people say 'I totally agree'. 'Totally' used in this way is informal.

5. And, But, So (to start sentences)
For formal writing, some teachers and grammar nazis consider doing this to be informal and wrong. There is no reason to risk it for your IELTS test, so avoid starting your sentences with these. Using them in the middle of your sentences is fine. Replacements could be 'Furthermore/In addition, However/Nevertheless, Therefore/Thus/Consequently.

Test markazga qanday borishni oldindan rejalashtiring va biroz barvaqtroq keling. Siz imtihonga har tomonlama shay bo’lishingiz kerak.

Savollar ko’rsatmalarni sinchiklab o’qing. Juda ko’plab o’quvchilar ko’rsatmalarga amal qilmaslik yoki noto’g’ri o’qish tufayli, juda oddiy xatolarga yo’l qo’yishadi.

Javobingzi savollar varag’iga yozavering. Axir, siz buning uchun allaqachon pul to’lagansiz!

Audiolar tugagandan so’ng, javobingizni ehtiyotkorlik bilan javoblar varag’iga ko’chiring.

Istasangiz, javoblaringizni bosh harflarda yozishingiz mumkin.

Agarda texnik yoki boshqa sabablar tufayli, audioni yaxshi eshita olmagan bo’lsangiz, imtihon oxirida bu haqida shikoyat qiling. Siz imtihon uchun pul to’lagansiz va yaxshi xizmat ko’rsatilishiga haqqingiz bor! 😉

Speaking advice 🗣

Never Learn Scripted Answers

If a teacher tells you to memorise answers, that teacher does not know what he or she is talking about and you should find a new teacher.

Also, if you read a textbook or website that advises you to learn some scripted answers, throw that book in the bin and never go back to that website.

Learning scripts is the best way to get a band 0.‼️

Instead, you should focus on developing your speaking skills, so that you will be able to respond to any situation in the exam and life in general.☝️

Speaking advice 🗣

”I have no one to practice with me!” ☹️

Don’t worry – you do not need a speaking partner to practice speaking from home. You can:

Record yourself answering practice questions. You can then listen back to the recording and reflect on your mistakes. At first, you might be surprised to hear how many small mistakes you make without even realising. This will give you the evidence you need to identify your weaknesses and attack them.

• Try to teach a friend or family member. There’s no better way of mastering a skill than teaching it to someone else!

Speaking uchun maslahat 🗣

- “Men bilan ingliz tlida gaplashadigan hech kim yo’q!” ☹️

Ushbu muammo juda ko'pchilik IELTSimtihoniga tayyorlanuvchilar orasida uchraydi. Quyidagi maslahatlar aynan shu muammoga duch kelayotganlar uchun:

Xavotir olmang. Speakingni uyda practice qilmoqchi bo’lsangiz, sizga hamroh kerak emas. Uning o’rniga:

- Ovozingizni recorder yordamida yozib oling. Ovozingizni qaytib tinglang va xatolaringizni analiz qiling. Avvaliga, qanchalar oddiy xatolarni o’zingiz sezmagan holda qilayotganingizni ko’rib taajublanasiz. Bu sizga xatolaringiz topib ular ustida ishlashingiz uchun sizga tayyor dalil bo’ladi.

- Do’stingiz yoki oila a’zoyingizga ingliz tilida gapirishni o’rgating. Biror nimani o’rganishning eng yaxshi usuli uni kimgadir o’rgatishdir!
