🚨 The Republican-led Texas House just passed a Bill Making POLITICAL MEMES A CRIME!
Introduced by Rep. Andrew Murr, HB 366, If you don’t include a “Government Disclaimer” on certain altered media, you could face up to 1 year behind bars.
The bill claims to protect election integrity by targeting deepfake ads that misrepresent politicians. In Reality, it’s protecting fragile politicians from public scrutiny.
The language is so broad, it criminalizes any altered media where a politician appears to do or say something they didn’t actually do — Which is the literal Definition of a Meme.
Guess who enforces it? The Texas Ethics Commission — a Politically connected agency who now gets to decide whether if your humor is lawful.
This unconstitutional bill is now pending Senate Approval.
