Many miracles are attributed to the intercession of St. Pius X after he died, and there were several more which took place during his lifetime. One of them involved the popeβs sock. According to a story, a Roman schoolgirl had a serious foot disease which crippled her from age one. Through a friend she managed to acquire one of the pope's socks and was told that she would be healed if she wore it, which she did. At the moment she placed the sock on, the diseased foot was instantly healed. When Pope Saint Pius X heard about this, he laughed and said, "What a joke! I wear my own socks every day and I still suffer constant pain in my feet!"

It did not take long before he got elected to the highest position of his order. One time, he met people who were angry with the pope. One man from the group punched him. The man later asked for forgiveness and joined the Servites as well. That man was St. Peregrine Laziosi.

He was jailed for being a Catholic priest. He died while in prison.
