The original ITC Machine by Ronne Bender and Tom Carnase was uppercase only. Sometime in the late 1970s or early 1980s a lowercase alphabet was added. The lowercase didn’t make it to today’s digital version.

Citype invited us to design a typeface inspired by our city, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Buenos Aires is a temperamental, eclectic and disrupted city. Full of movement, it seems that Buenos Aires never sleeps. Freezing during winter, melting during summer, order and chaos, simultaneously. Our typeface reflects this.

Since 2011, Kinfolk has become a leading lifestyle authority with a dynamic mix of print and online media, including a quarterly magazine sold in over 100 countries in four languages. For their rebranding we created a type family that consists of 6 different styles, a Serif and a Sans counterpart with matching italics. Together the fonts create a compact but versatile palette that serves all the typographic needs of the magazine, from impressive headlines to longer articles.
