The Cardstack application is likely to be accessed via a device users are most comfortable with. For some, it is a desktop browser with MetaMask as the wallet, while other users may be more comfortable with a mobile wallet, such as a card wallet on iOS.

We are currently working on connecting additional third-party APIs for the iOS work on the Cardstack mobile app. This includes fiat on-ramp providers, to ensure that new users can buy a prepaid card in one step, using Touch ID or Face ID operations.

On the compiler front, we continue to work on migrating Cardstack from a configuration as JSON data to a CatalogJS code approach. This requires us to refactor many parts of the Cardstack V2 codebase, to take advantage of the terseness and performance of this new JavaScript-based approach.

Cardstack's lead developer, Ed Faulkner gave the closing keynote at the 2021 Ember Conference. Ed showcased a new type of build system that eliminates the need for npm install, shifting the work of building a JavaScript application from the server to the browser through service workers.
