【Current News】 The SpaceX IPO Frenzy Is Real. So Is the $41 Billion Deficit.
Retail investors are not waiting for SpaceX to list before positioning themselves. According to Vanda Research, buying in space-themed ETFs and stocks is now running at its strongest pace since 2021, fueled by anticipation ahead of SpaceX's planned June IPO. The Procure Space ETF logged record retail net buying of $6.2 million on April 30, currently sitting at $3.8 million, roughly three times stronger than prior peaks. Redwire, which makes satellite infrastructure and spacecraft components, has attracted $41.1 million in retail net buying over the past 20 trading days.
The IPO details, as reported, are extraordinary in several respects.
SpaceX is targeting a June 11 pricing and a June 12 Nasdaq listing at a $1.75 trillion valuation, which would place it just below Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon on the list of the world's most valuable public companies. Goldman Sachs is leading the deal with 21 banks behind it. Perhaps the most unusual element is the retail allocation: 30% of the float is earmarked for retail investors, compared to the standard 5 to 10% in most major IPOs.
The business case has real substance. SpaceX reported $18.7 billion in total revenue for 2025, up 33% year on year. Starlink generated $11.4 billion of that, representing 61% of total revenue. The satellite internet service has signed long-term contracts with governments, airlines, maritime operators, and enterprise customers globally.
The financial picture carries a significant caveat though. SpaceX posted a GAAP net loss of $4.28 billion in the first quarter of 2026 alone and carries an accumulated deficit of $41.3 billion. A $1.75 trillion valuation on $18.7 billion in annual revenue implies a price-to-sales multiple well above what most public market investors would consider conservative.
Lee Munson, chief investment officer at Portfolio Wealth Advisors, was direct: "I don't think you do anything on day one of the SpaceX IPO. I would love to have these companies come out, see a big pop, and then actually buy it at a much lower valuation." He also flagged the 30% retail allocation as a yellow flag, suggesting the IPO is driven more by enthusiasm than strong institutional conviction.
The tension here is straightforward. SpaceX has genuine, large-scale revenue growth and technology that is genuinely difficult to replicate. IPO proceeds are reportedly earmarked for a higher Starship launch rate, AI-powered orbital data centers, and early groundwork for a permanent lunar base. The long-term vision is credible. The near-term valuation, the losses, and the unusual retail structure are all worth sitting with before the roadshow opens the week of June 8.

Nvidia launches DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction
Nvidia introduced DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction at Computex, compatible with all GeForce RTX cards including older RTX 20 series.
It uses a second-generation neural network trained on Nvidia’s supercomputer to clean up ray tracing noise by reconstructing missing pixels while combining denoising and resolution scaling.
This new engine delivers 35% more compute power and uses 20% more parameters at the same speed.
Nvidia claims it improves lighting accuracy and image stability in motion, reducing artifacts like ghosting in games such as Indiana Jones and refining screen noise effects in Alan Wake 2.
