Australia supports access to clean water for rural Cambodians
Australia is working closely with Cambodia to expand access to clean piped water. Over the past decade, we have supported nearly 100 clean water infrastructure projects, bringing clean water to more than 1.2 million rural Cambodians.
In Kampong Thom this week, Ambassador Yip visited an Australian supported water treatment plant and met residents who now have access to clean pipes water in their homes.

Australia through CAPRED provided 20 Cambodian startups,
primarily women-owned businesses, with training and mentorship through the CNai Accelerator program.
The program supports entrepreneurs by enhancing their investment readiness, connecting them with investors, and promoting the integration and application of gender principles into their practices.
Last week, Ambassador Yip visited Cam Agro in Siem Reap and met Soukhim Im, a CNai finalist and CEO of Cam Agro, to hear about her entrepreneurial journey and meet local farmers who supply the crops.
In 2023, Soukhim launched Cam Agro to convert surplus agriculture into value-added products like dried chili and moringa. Seed funding and new skills helped her expand rapidly, boosting sales five-fold.

Australia Supports Sustained Growth and Productivity in Cambodia
Today, Cambodia and Australia hosted a high-level workshop about diversification pathways for Cambodia. Through support from Australia’s CAPRED, Professor Ricardo Hausmann, Director of Harvard University’s Growth Lab, led an excellent discussion that explored growth strategies for diversifying Cambodia’s economy and building a more successful and prosperous future for the nation.
Ambassador Yip, along with key Cambodian leaders—including Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol and Minister for Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, H.E. Hem Vanndy—as well as development partners and line ministries, attended the workshop.
This initiative is part of Australia’s ongoing commitment to promoting strategic policy dialogue for a stronger, more prosperous Cambodia.
