Today Ambassador Derek Yip presented credentials to acting Head of State, Hun Sen. The ceremony marks the official start of Ambassador Yip’s mission in Cambodia.
During their meeting, Ambassador Yip reflected on the longstanding engagement between Australia and Cambodia, the importance of diversity of relationships and bilateral priority areas – including health, education, agricultural, economic resilience, defence and police cooperation, democracy and human rights. He looks forward to working with Cambodia to progress issues affecting our region during his time here.

តាមរយៈការគាំទ្រពីកម្មវិធី CAPRED របស់ប្រទេសអូស្ត្រាលី មូនិធិហិរញ្ញប្បទានអាកាសធាតុកម្ពុជា ត្រូវបានគេរំពឹងថានឹងដំណើរការនៅពាក់កណ្តាលឆ្នាំ ២០២៥ ដើម្បីផ្តល់ហិរញ្ញប្បទានរយៈពេលវែងដល់គម្រោងកាត់បន្ថយការប្រែប្រួលអាកាសធាតុ និងគម្រោងបន្សាំនានាក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។

Australia Backs Cambodia's First Green Finance Initiative
Climate finance is vital to help Cambodia address climate change and build a net-zero economy. However, access to this finance remains a significant challenge.
Australia is providing instrumental support to prepare Cambodia’s Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) through its partner Mekong Strategic Capital (MSC), for the establishment of the Cambodia Climate Finance Facility (CCFF), a pioneer initiative to channel climate finance directly to Cambodia’s private sector.
Housed within ARDB, and co-managed by MSC the CCFF will be funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Cambodian Government, and other co-financiers with initial capital of US$100 million.
Through support from Australia’s CAPRED program, the CCFF is expected to be operational by mid-2025 to provide long-term financing to climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in Cambodia.
Climate resilience is central to Australia’s partnership with Cambodia, as we work together towards resilient, inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Cambodia's rice is world-renowned, with fragrant variety Phka Rumduol winning the World's Best Rice award five times. Over the coming year, Cambodia aims to increase its milled rice exports to 1 million tons annually (a third more than last year).
Australia is proud to support the Cambodia Rice Forum 2024, which brought together over 400 leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities in the rice value chain.
The Cambodia Rice Forum 2024 provided a platform for Cambodian agri-food exporters to connect with international buyers and retailers, including those from Australia, fostering potential business opportunities. Visits to rice milling facilities also showcased Cambodia’s export potential.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet provided closing remarks at the forum, emphasising the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to realise the country's rice export ambitions.
