Australia is helping Cambodia strengthen public institutions to achieve its national economic goals
Through CAPRED, Australia recently supported 13 Cambodian officials to undertake training in Australia with the University of Melbourne, focused on enhancing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills for effective policy implementation.
Led by experts from the Melbourne Institute and including visits to key Australian institutions, the program boosted participants’ capacity to support Cambodia’s economic policy goals.
Officials came from the Office of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, and the Digital Government Committee.
This activity reflects Australia’s ongoing commitment to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth in Cambodia.

Australia supports clean energy in Cambodia
Cambodia is stepping up its clean energy transition, aiming for renewable energy to make up at least 70 per cent of its domestic generation capacity by 2030.
This requires careful planning to ensure the national grid remains stable, reliable and affordable. Australia is a leader in renewable energy, with solar capacity per capita among the highest in the world.
Australia, through CAPRED, is supporting technical training on utility-scale solar feasibility assessments, and on the integration and management of rooftop solar systems for national and provincial-level officials from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Electricité du Cambodge, and the Electricity Authority of Cambodia.
By building capacity to plan and manage renewable energy projects, Australia is helping Cambodia move towards a more sustainable power sector, benefiting households, businesses and the economy.
