Your Phone Is a Goldmine of Hidden Data for Cops. Here's How to Fight Back
For the thousands of people protesting and reporting on George Floyd’s death at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department—or even for bystanders caught up in the demonstrations—arrests, injuries, and even death are becoming commonplace in this moment.…

Due to a misinformation campaign (ran mostly by the police) coming out of #CHAZ, I will be creating a collection of twitter accounts of people who are actually on the ground and their reporting is known to be valid. The energy in the streets remains high in many places! But looking ahead to future iterations of these struggles, this is a lovely and inspiring thread:

THREAD Suggestions for next steps after the momentum dies down in the streets: Given that we have leveled critiques at those who would seek to crystallize the energy of "the movement" under their own agenda, we feel somewhat compelled to offer some alternatives…

"Steal This Book" is an instruction manual by Abbie Hoffman on, among other things, shoplifting, fare evasion, and protesting. 30 publishers refused to print it, and many bookstores refused to sell it because people were shoplifting the book, as the title suggested.

Let's take a moment to talk about the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. Not about their strategy, or the people involved, or whatever, but about its very existence.
In recent days, I've seen a lot of flak being directed towards the CHAZ. Of course, it's usually by toxic "leftists" trying to start drama for fun, but that is beyond the scope of what I'm talking about here. You need to understand that phenomena like this is not at all common in the USA. Other parts of the world— France, Spain, even Brazil, and so forth— have had a great many more autonomous zones and similar things than the USA has ever had. Unlike those places, resistance is not as deeply set in the roots of our culture.
Maybe the CHAZ will fail. But does that matter? Its very existence is monumental. When we say that "America has joined the game", it's not a simple meme. These things are new to the USA. The chance of failure for the CHAZ is high. What the hell do you expect? They're not in it because they think it will be easy, or that they will always win for sure. They're in it because it is the right thing to do. Yes, they might be low on food and dependent on charity, but what do you expect from a spontaneous movement that started literally less than a week ago? They need to focus on one problem at a time, they have only recently pushed out the cops.
So when you talk about, or criticize, the CHAZ, just take a moment to remember and understand that this is not a singular event, but a process, and it is a very young process in the USA. Greater North America is lagging behind when compared to the rest of the world. But for fuck's sake, we are fucking trying! The very fact that anything like the CHAZ happened at all is a milestone. If you think things can be done better, you are encouraged by everyone to do it. They did it in the CHAZ, surely you can too? Just because the CHAZ is not officially X political ideology does not mean it is a fruitless effort. It is an effort, it is action. Real action in the real world. This is what we need, not endless debate and drama.

And i think that the thing about it all is that it only needs to be inspiration to "succeed"... People want the commons back, and they want justice, to not get bent over backwards by the government in the middle of an economic meltdown and a pandemic.. etc. This sort of thing just seems like a natural byproduct of those pressures and there will likely be more people coming together as time goes on.
We saw similar actions in Minneapolis, with a hotel being seized to house the homeless, with the total rejection of usual norms and communities coming together on the streets, etc.
Of course, the powers that be always come back to shut it all down, but with enough people seeking interactions that cannot be mediated or endorsed by the system either by grave necessity or desire then we can only hope we will see more "autonomous zones".

Er, not like im saying *much* new here but one other thought is that even if many things about it seem silly, even just the idea is a very powerful one.. You can "declare autonomy" in more ways then just haha we secede from da united states xdddd.
For all right-wing people in this channel, it was literally never intended to *actually* fucking secede from the united states. Nobody on the ground thinks that. No, what's going on here goes beyond the vague idea of borders... But mabye more on that later.
