WEEK OF ACTION: MARCH 4-11

Only self-organized resistance can save the South River Forest from destruction. Join us this week in the beautiful Weelaunee Forest to take a stand.

Despite overwhelming local and national opposition to the construction of Cop City, the APF and their contractors continue to make plans to destroy the Weelaunee Forest and to build Cop City.

The Week of Action is an open format event - You can organize any event during this time, whether it’s a protest, bbq, concert, or yoga class.

Submit your event to DTFWEEKOFACTION@riseup.net along with a flyer and description.

Together, we can stop Cop City.

Balance Sheet: Two Years against Cop City

http://crimethinc.com/AgainstCopCity

Starting in April 2021, a bold movement set out to defend Weelaunee Forest in Atlanta, Georgia, where local politicians and corporate profiteers want to build a police training compound known as Cop City. In the following assessment, participants evaluate the strategic hypotheses that the movement has produced and tested over the past two years and reflect on the risks and possibilities of the next phase of the struggle.

This is a sort of balance sheet concluding the history of the movement that we published last week, "The Forest in the City."

We are fighting to assure a peaceful future for ourselves and our communities in the face of climate chaos and police brutality. We are fighting to right historical wrongs, because we know nobody else can for us.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Last week, cops entered and began to clear cut the Weelaunee forest in Atlanta, GA, USA. Activists (known as forest defenders) have built defensive structures and squatted the forest for over a year in order to prevent this from happening. The forest, nicknamed the "Lungs of Atlanta" for the essential role it plays in the area's climate resilience, is due to be cleared to make space for #CopCity - a brutal, highly militarized cop training center. We as EG Bremen show solidarity with the brave activists in Georgia, who are facing massive state and police repression. We remember Tortuguita, who was killed while peacefully defending the forest. #vivavivatortuguita #stopCopCity #youcantevictamovement
