We have to work with the community and public we got, they ARE swayable, and edm is just more palatable to a lot of people. Once we get them in we can radicalize and educate them. I roll my eyes when anyone bitches about property damage, but I'll also draw them in with visuals like edm getting gassed for a candelight vigil before then educating them on how lives are more important than property and the history of riots (stonewall, civil rights, boston tea party) - I have found this effective. Some people are just too brainwashed by capatlism to start with spicier methods... But we can get them there

Sorry long msg but thinking about last night too.....

Definitely wanted to emphasize the importance of discussing this paradigm shift and how to keep us safe in concrete ways OTG before marches. Getting the crowd together and talking about goals and an exit strategy is of utmost importance imo. We are seeing some serious changes and it’s important to discuss how to adapt to and overcome police escalation and more frequent uninvited far-right guests. Especially on nights when there’s so few folks on the streets I believe we need to re-evaluate collectively our capabilities and advantages as a group instead of just doing the same thing we usually do and expecting different results. We have to protect each other and that starts by talking to each other.

TL;DR I believe pre-march community discussion and collective decisionmaking will help keep us safe.

"Beginning in 1969, leaders of the Black Panther Party were targeted by the COINTELPRO and "neutralized" by being assassinated, imprisoned, publicly humiliated or falsely charged with crimes. Some of the Black Panthers affected included Fred Hampton, Mark Clark, Zayd Shakur, Geronimo Pratt, Mumia Abu-Jamal, and Marshall Conway. Common tactics used by COINTELPRO were perjury, witness harassment, witness intimidation, and withholding of evidence."

"The Front Line was generally built out of inner tubes, of the kind one uses to be dragged behind a speedboat. These have handles built right onto them, and they’re lightweight, and quite strong. They were reinforced with packing tape, cardboard, puncture-proof plastic wrap, and other materials.

Some common enhancements to the front line of inner tubes included attaching a skirt of tarps to protect the feet, and backing the tubes up with a layer of drywall or thick cardboard."

"Another model for the front line was to build large panels out of a see-through material like plexiglass or fencing, with handles attached so each heavy panel could be carried by three or four people. Note the wheels attached so they can be pushed down the street.

These rolling panels could be moved into different formations, as the need arose.

When the means aren’t available to attach wheels to one’s front line barricades, shopping carts do nicely."
