⚠️ India Orders All New Phones to Preload Undeletable State-Owned Security App

The Indian Government now requires all new smartphones sold in the country to come with the government’s cyber-security app Sanchar Saathi pre-installed and users won’t be able to delete it.

The directive gives phone makers 90 days to comply; older phones will receive the app via mandatory updates.

Officials argue it’ll help fight phone theft, cloned IMEIs and rampant cyber-fraud; making it easier to track lost or stolen devices and block fake connections.

But critics warn this is a serious privacy and user-choice violation: a government app baked into every phone, with no opt-out.

✅ Update: Government Confirms Sanchar Saathi Isn't Mandatory and Can Be Deleted

The government clarified today that Sanchar Saathi is not mandatory and users are free to remove it if they wish.

Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “If you don’t want Sanchar Saathi, you can delete it. It is optional."

He added the app only becomes active if the user chooses to register, and insists it involves “no spying or call-monitoring.”

So the current status is, users may delete Sanchar Saathi, as now it remains optional.

A good alternative specially for those who uses lens (for copying text from images) but don't want to use the Google App. Yeah you can copy text from images as well, just use yandex search engine to do so..

Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well...

Android root has changed a lot over time. Now, much of the effort goes into handling Play Integrity or finding a stable custom ROM, instead of simply enjoying and using the device.

Life has its uncertainties, and right now I’m stepping back from module development to focus more on life.
Data Backup and Bundle Mods are my final modules.

I’m buying a new phone soon and most likely won’t unlock the bootloader just for peace of mind :)

JUST IN: The UK Government will consider every developer a hostile actor and in the interest of a foreign state if they offer end-to-end encryption in their product

The developer of an app, whose selling point is end-to-end encryption which would make it more difficult for UK security and intelligence agencies to monitor communications. It is a reasonable assumption that this would be in the interests of a foreign state even though the foreign state has never contemplated this potential advantage
