Tehran has every reason to drag its feet with the nuclear talks if Witkoff and Trump allow it, because they believe that 'as long as Washington talks, Jerusalem doesn't shoot' - and through this prism everything else flows.
The main component of Tehran's diplomatic strategy today is not to obtain sanctions relief, but to use direct contact with the US as a real human shield against a preemptive Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear and military facilities.

The withdrawal of all lightly armed border guards has been ordered to be replaced by 20 brigades of the Iranian army, taking over their positions. IRAN 🇮🇷 KNOWS THAT THEY ARE VULNERABLE, AGAINST A GROUND INVASION.

Officials said the Middle East summit will give Trump a stage to outline his regional strategy and define the contours of US engagement in the Middle East.
Trump is scheduled to arrive in Saudi Arabia on May 13 for bilateral meetings, with the SUMMIT set for the morning of May 14.

Israel could launch a preemptive strike on Iran before nuclear talks conclude, says security expert Dan Diker, citing Tehran's current vulnerability and close US-Israel coordination.
Speaking during last week’s Voice of Valor event, Diker said that “Iran has been dealt a blow. They’ve been hit very hard, certainly in the last nine months by Israel.”
In attacks carried out over the past year, Israel has destroyed most of Iran’s air defense systems. In addition, Diker said, Israel—and now the United States—have dealt serious blows to its terror proxy network: Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
“Iran is at its most vulnerable that it's been in 45 years, and Israel has the opportunity to take military action,” Diker told ILTV News, Ynet Global, and Israel Plus.
