The house most likely began as a coffee house around the end of the 1700s, in 1775 it became a Trade Club for a group of bricklayers and would be registered as the "Bricklayer's Arms."

Brewers Rigdens bought the premises in 1840 for ยฃ379. A skittle alley is also mentioned as being pert of the premises in 1849.

The Graving Dock Tavern #RIP

North #Woolwich Road, #Silvertown, #london, #S16 This pub was built on the site of an original Victorian public house around 1960. Now one wouldn't even know one was in England, never mind the docklands.

The factory would be replaced by Frys Chocolate factory (J. S. Fry & Sons, Lt). Imagery such as this truly reminds of how little we've progressed compared to the community of the past. #RIP

The White Hart, on the #RiverLea at #TempleMills, #Hackney Marshes by J.T. Wilson The painting faces the White Hart where we can see in the foreground, horses pulling a heavily-laden cart of straw through water. https://t.me/vinniesullivan/27321

Possibly established by 1513, demolished in 1999, we shall never see it's kind again. Originally listed under #Stratford, and previously under #Leyton, the spot is now the Olympic site, meaning we can't see any traces what so ever. This is near where I grew up (@VinnieSull1van), and it's sad to think of what it's become. Next drink you have, think of the White Hart.

Ilford has next to nothing left other than the shells we remember which were once part of the community.

Barking Road is a world of pub stores and pub losses all to itself. This hostelry is the first one would have come across on the high street. A pub with a troublesome reputation and a world class boxing legacy, now it's building serves as a Turkish restaurant. ๐Ÿป

#EastLondon is a prime location to see the drastic death of Britain's public houses. Across Britain, pubs are closing or being changed into gastro-bars on mass. East London acts as a showroom to their overall decline as wherever one turns, a ghost is stating back at you. This short video is but a taste of the depressive nature that London, and our work uncovering its dying pubs, truly feels. #RIP ๐Ÿค
