I don't know what to even say. Seeing someone you know (someone you even heard of once) pass really makes you question reality and feel like you're dreaming.
He was a second-year student at AASTU, and we used to attend the same high school in the same batch. He passed away at such a young age. ๐ญ๐ญ
After all we don't decide what's gonna happen and we have no control over it.
Rest in Peace ๐๏ธ

I was about to get robbed, man! God really saved me!
I don't really know if I'm ever going to believe and help people again.
I don't really know if I'm ever going to believe and help people again.
So, I was walking when I met a man who looked lost. He showed me a lottery ticket and claimed he had won. He said he had come all the way from Dilla to collect his prize and that someone had sent him to 6 Kilo to find the Bherawi Lottery office. He asked if I knew anything about collecting lottery winnings.
I told him I didn't know the office's exact location. I thought it was somewhere around 4 Kilo or Piazza, but later I realised I had mistaken another place for the lottery bureau.
While we were talking, he stopped another guy and asked him the same question. The guy suddenly shouted, "Bro, 75k ashenifehal! Enkuan des aleh!" (Bro, you'll get 75k! Congratulations!) He also told the man not to show the ticket to anyone.
Just as I was about to leave, the lottery winner asked both of us to show him the way so we couldn't trick him and steal his ticket. He even promised to give each of us 5,000 ETB. I asked why he would pay us that much just for showing him the way. I told him I could point him in the right direction so he could go straight to the office himself. However, the other guy insisted that we help, saying he wanted the money if I didn't. Since it was on my route, I agreed to show him the way.
As we walked towards 4 Kilo, the other guy handed the lottery winner his button phone and asked him to call the office. The winner entered the number and called in less than three seconds, even though it wasn't his phone and the screen wasn't clearly visible. That alone was suspicious.
The person on the other end supposedly said a national ID was required to collect the prize. Since they handed me the phone to speak to him, I asked, "Let's say I have my national ID. What would be the next step?"
He told me to go to the Kasanchis branch and said the process would take five minutes. When I said I was at 4 Kilo, he claimed he could meet me there, too, and said he was at the 4 Kilo branch.
I said, "So, if I go to Kasanchis, you're there, and if I go to the 4 Kilo branch, you're there, too. What are you, exactly?" He replied that his colleagues would help me at Kasanchis.
Both men then claimed they didn't have their national IDs. I asked how they had travelled all the way from wherever they came without them. They said they didn't usually carry their IDs. Then they wanted me to collect the prize for them. At that point, I realised the two men knew each other and that I was the only outsider.
I recognised the scam because I knew someone who had been robbed of around 8,000 ETB and a phone using the same method. I asked about the rules for entering the lottery office, and the man claimed I couldn't take a phone, a camera, or more than 200 ETB inside.
I laughed and told them I knew exactly what they were trying to do. They insisted the lottery was real, so I asked what would happen if I left my belongings with my friends and went inside empty-handed.
The lottery winner said he needed proof that I wouldn't run away with his money. The other guy handed him his own phone to prove he could be trusted, and both waited for me to do the same.
I asked, "Why would I give you my phone? I agreed to help you without asking for anything in return, and now you think I might steal your money?"
He said it was too much money to trust someone so easily. I told him I wasn't the person he should worry about and offered to call the official lottery administration to confirm the process.
As soon as I mentioned calling the official administration, he ran away with his ticket!
A third guy had also joined us, pretending to be a stranger. That made three of them, none with a national ID. And guess what? All three ran away in the same direction.
If I hadn't known someone who was robbed using this exact method, I might have fallen for it. And if they had been using madenzesha, it would have been the end for me.

It was too long, so I had to shorten it with AI. I hope someone can learn from it.
What the hell is happening on the internet these days? ๐
Two days ago Google Cloud had an outage that affected many services in the EU.
Yesterday, serious PHP security vulnerabilities were reported.
Today, Railway warned that a third party may have accessed some environment variables.
Three days, three incidents. What is going on? ๐ญ
