Message from Inbox: Man City 7โ0 Man Utd ๐ฒ Or you scoring 590 in the entrance exam which one would you choose? @Bright_Codes
Winning against Utd with a 7 goal difference and a clean sheet is amazing. I mean, Iโm not picking that one but I thought it would be interesting if I had to choose between City 3โ0 Utd and scoring 590/600.
that would be much harder to decide. ๐๐ ๐

Hello guys!
Recently, a lot of friends I met online asked me how Iโm learning Machine Learning. So I decided to write a short blog about my current approach, whatโs helping me, and how Iโm progressing step by step.
Iโm not claiming this is the perfect way to learn ML but itโs working for me, and maybe it can help someone else approach it more efficiently rather than rushing through it.
If youโre learning with a different method, Iโm open to learn from you as well. Iโll also share some useful resources soon.
Hereโs the blog:

The Thinking Game | Documentary
A behind the scenes look at one of the most intelligent AI systems ever created, an AI that tackles the protein folding problem.
AlphaFold predicted around 200 million protein structures in a single year, an extraordinary achievement compared to the roughly 150,000 protein structures discovered by thousands of scientists over five decades.
This project, AlphaFold, is also the reason Demis Hassabis, CEO and co-founder of DeepMind, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
You wonโt regret watching this documentary.

My 2025
2025 has been my most productive year so far. After completing my entrance exam in July, my focus and work ethic improved significantly. The months of July and August were especially important for me because I fully committed myself to learning again. After being away from programming for a long time due to exam preparation, I used this period to refresh my skills and rebuild my foundation.
Initially, I started learning the MERN stack. However, I did not continue with it for long. My interest was shifting more toward artificial intelligence, and I also had several other important areas to focus on. Because of this, I made a conscious decision to prioritize skills that align better with my long-term goal of becoming a machine learning engineer.
Skills I focused on in 2025
Throughout the year, I worked on building both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
The main areas I focused on:
- Mathematics
- Machine Learning concepts and hands-on practice
- FastAPI (currently learning)
- Azure cloud services (ongoing)
For the past one and a half years, I have been moving toward machine learning engineering. In 2025, I realized that this path requires consistent effort and stronger project-based learning, so I decided to push these skills more seriously.
Projects
To apply what I was learning, I worked on multiple Python-based projects. A major part of this involved building Telegram bots. Even though most of these bots are not active(for today they will be active again in this week), they helped me understand real-world use cases, APIs, and system logic.
Some of the Telegram bots I built are:
- Quiz Generator Telegram Bot, which generates quizzes and sends them privately or posts them in channels
- Goalie Bot, designed for football fans
- Bright SMM Bot, a social media marketing bot
- Ethiopian Passport Status Checker bot
In addition to Telegram bots, I also worked on:
- A Wikipedia Scraper Python library (which can be installed easily)
- An AI-powered data exploration web application
These projects helped me improve my backend development skills, data handling, and problem-solving ability.
Recently after joining Addis Ababa University, I received the GitHub Education Pack, which gave me access to useful developer tools and domain names. Using this opportunity, I created my personal portfolio website:
Portfolio website: beknanch.dev
Currently, two projects are deployed. The backend of my portfolio is hosted on Render. I reached the 750 hours per month limit, so the backend will be active again starting from January 1 at 00:00. Until then, only the frontend may be visible.
GitHub repositories
Most of my GitHub activity happened this year. I created or contributed to several repositories such as:
- AI-powered Data Explorer web app
- Movie Recommender system (ongoing, with plans to add more approaches)
- Machine Learning projects repository
- WikiScraper-py
- Quiz Generator Bot
- Passport Status Checker
Longest GitHub Streak: 20
