NEW: Secretary of State Tony Blinken and White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan believe China is the "greatest long-term national security threat to the United States," according to Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX), who has held discussions with both officials. However, they will use a "different approach" compared to the Trump administration.

A spokesperson for the Department of State said China is involved in "stealing intellectual property, engaging in industrial espionage and forcing technology transfer," and that the U.S. must "play a better defense, which must include holding China accountable for its unfair and illegal practices and making sure that American technologies aren’t facilitating China’s military buildup or human rights abuses."
