BreadHead BreakDown:
The Bengals come into this game fresh off of a much needed bye week. The Bengals sit at 4-7 this season which is well under expectations.

What the record doesn’t show is the misfortunes they’ve suffered to be sitting at 4-7.
Week 1 they lost to the Patriots because they fumbled on the goal line.
Week 2 they lost to the Chiefs because of a 4th down pass interference call on their defence on the final drive.
Week 5 they blew a 10 point lead with 5 minutes left in the game to lose on overtime.
Week 10 they lose to the Ravens again because of a failed 2 point attempt to win the game.
Week 11 they lost in overtime to the Chargers because their kicker kept missing game winning kicks.

Of course they’re to blame for those losses, but those are 5 losses to top tier teams that they competed with down to the wire and deserved a better fate in. Had all those games gone their way this is a 9-2 team.

Today they’re fully rested, fresh off a bye week, with 2 weeks to prepare for this divisional rival. A week off to prepare physically and mentally for this game is exactly what this unfortunate Bengals team needed. The Bengals have the #1 pass attack in the league, and defending through the air is where the Steelers are venerable. Pittsburgh ranks in the bottom half of the league against the pass. With the extra week to prepare the Bengals have time to cook up plays and schemes that the Steelers will be caught off guard by.

Burrow and the Bengals are 3-0 after a bye week the last 3 years. In 2022 they beat this Steelers team after a bye week also. The Bengals have been a second half team for many years now and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they go on a win streak here and implement themselves into the playoff picture. They’re currently +350 to make the playoffs. Although unlikely, the oddsmakers are giving them the respect that it’s still a possibility.

Burrow also had some bet-on quotes this week in his press conference, emphasizing on despite hoe frustrating the first 11 games have been, they’re not out of the playoff picture yet, one win at a time gets them back in it.

The Steelers are amidst a terrible scheduling stretch, this will be their 4th different stadium in 4 weeks, 3rd consecutive divisional game against a PHYSICAL division, and back to back road games.

The Bengals absolutely NEED to win this game for any hope at the post season, they should come out firing after a bye week, at home, vs a week pass defence with their season on the line.
