India is set to introduce polymer currency notes from FY28, with ₹10 and ₹20 denominations leading the rollout.
Designed to last two to four times longer than paper notes, they will reduce wear and tear, improve durability, and help expand currency production capacity. A wider rollout will follow if RBI’s field trials prove successful.

STELLAR EVOLUTION
-Life Cycle: Nebula —> Protostar —> Main-sequence Star —> Red Giant/Red Supergiant —> Stellar Remnant.
-Sun-like stars: Red Giant —> Planetary Nebula —> White Dwarf —> eventually Black Dwarf.
-Massive stars: Red Supergiant —> Supernova —> Neutron Star/Pulsar or Black Hole.
-White Dwarf: Hot, Earth-sized, extremely dense dead stellar core; no sustained nuclear fusion; supported by electron degeneracy pressure.
-Pulsar: Rapidly rotating, highly magnetised neutron star emitting periodic radiation pulses.
🔭 IN NEWS: eRASSU J0608
Two white dwarfs orbit each other every 374 seconds (~6 min) and are rapidly spiralling inward, largely due to gravitational-wave energy loss.
Missions mentioned:
eROSITA —> X-ray telescope on Russian-German Spektr-RG | Einstein Probe —> Chinese-led X-ray mission | NICER —> NASA X-ray instrument on ISS | XMM-Newton —> ESA X-ray space observatory.
